Hello,

We (my dd18 & me) have standard view waitlisted (last day before they go into hold is 8/12). What do you guys think about moving (to save on points) when it's within the same villa, but just between booking category? Now I have garden/pool which is a preferred view.

I'm talking possibly moving twice. It's only two of us so it doesn't seem too bad, right?:confused3

Also, that way I will put in a couple of single night waitlists instead of waiting for the whole reservation to come through. Also, should I keep calling about the waitlist? Or just look at it online every day to see if it changed from Garden/Pool?

Whatcha think?
thanks
mary

I'd say it's a pain in the rear. You have to check out of your first room by 11AM, stash all your stuff with Bell Services (or in your car if you have one). Then you are homeless until after 4PM which could be 5 or 6PM if you aren't the lucky type.

I think this is your first trip home. How many points are you going to save? I would be inclined not to do it, not for the same resort experience, not to move twice. I would move only for a different resort, and I would move only once. Is a value at AKV available as a split stay experience?

We were scheduled to do this at BWV in August. We had a garden view for 2 nights and then standard view for 2. I did this purposely so that I could add the DDP to just 2 of the 4 nights and do the QSDP the other two.

We ended up getting in to BLT for the 2 nights I wanted, so now we are doing 2 at BWV, 2 at BLT, and then 3 at VWL. A lot of moving, but my DH Is not with us, this is our first DVC stay, and it is a good time for me and the kids to try things without DH. They are older (20, 16, and 13) so the moving won't be a big deal for us.

I don't think it would be that bad, especially being at the same resort. If your plan is to be gone during that 11:00 - 4:00 time anyway, being "homeless" might not be so bad.

Good luck!

IMHO, I wouldn't do it twice.

We did that at Boardwalk. We reserved at 5 months, and they only 3 of the 4 nights in a standard view. Since dh was heartbroken to save points...we gladly took 1 day in a boardwalk view.

btw, our trip was Friday to Tuesday.

Nothing is bad at Disney!:goodvibes

However, IMO moving within BWV would not be something we would consider, unless there was absolutey no other option.

Thanks everyone, I wasn't thinking about the homeless part, and I was thinking of getting groceries too so I'd have to pack those up as well, and then store them (twice!).

Also, I didn't tell you - I am staying at CBR on Sat. nite, and moving to BWV on Sunday, so already one move there! I think I'll stay put with Garden/Pool view if Standard doesn't come thru. Thanks again...

Waitlist came through!! I got standard view, I feel very lucky this worked out with making a reservation this late for September, although I knew it would help that it is a sort of slower time, and just before food & wine.

But ya know, I now get that whole thing of borrowing from next year to this year, and then when the waitlist comes through, those points you no longer need don't "go back" to the use year they came from.

So if not for the fact that I'm planning another trip for May/June since I'm getting the ap (so it doesn't matter), BUT if I were NOT planning another trip in this use year (sept) would this then be right?: I would have had to use the points I "borrowed" for this trip, and then would have had to "bank" this use years points to next year in order to "put them back" - - Right?

I had 76 Sept 09. "used" 110 for pref. view. Then, waitlist came thru so needed 80, so then I did not need 30, but - they STAY in this use year. Kind of stinks you can't put them back when you only had them out with a waitlist, don't cha think?

Sorry post ended up longer than I thought it would

Bottom line though: :woohoo: So glad I got that Standard view!

Congratulations! I am glad it works out. But yes, you are correct. If you borrow points when you book and then a WL comes through that uses less, those borrowed points can not be returned.

As long as the number of current UY points you have is equal to or greater than the borrowed points, you can always have MS use those and then bank the current UY points. The only trick is that the WL has to come through during your banking window. If not, you would be stuck with all the points having to be used up by the end of that UY.

Have a great trip!

Yes!!! We had a simiar situation when BCV came through and we had BLT booked. Less points for BCV so points borrowed for BLT are not where I'd like them....Oh well....Have to use them up somehow.;)

Congratulations!!!! :tinker: The pixie dust is just beginning for a magical trip.:tinker:

Thanks!!!

It is so funny how I thought I pretty much understood "everything", until you actually go through some of these circumstances personally, that's when understanding how it all works kind of starts to click.

You are all the best, thanks for your patience, help and pixie dust too!

If you have the time, you could bank some of the current year points and use the borrowed points for the reservation. But if you are past your banking deadline, that's just one reason why you need to quit the waitlist before you get to the point where you have points left over that you can't use and are going to waste.

So you have to consider both banking and holding (which you did) when you are on the waitlist.
