BWV self parking added

Forgive me if this has been posted before. A part of BWV valet lot is now self parking. Here is a graphic. The part inside the blue is still valet. The rest of that lot is now self parking. We are at BWV now and the valet area is still larger than needed. Perhaps there will be further adjustments in the future.

When we arrived on Sunday (10/3), I noticed that there were two security CMs stationed at the entrance to the main self-parking area. There were standing next to the sign that said they couldn't provide parking for the theme parks.

Didn't notice them after Sunday, though. Maybe it's an extra for the F&W weekends.

I noticed that the self-parking lots are still full. Glad we don't have a car this trip.

I'm arriving Saturday Oct 23. Hope the parking lot has spaces. It was crazy when we arrived the first Saturday in December last year. It's rough on arrival day because we have to go out to get groceries. The rest of the week was OK.

Looking at that picture isn't the walk from the self parking lot area next to the valet area a lot farther to the entrance of the Boardwalk? This past August when we stayed at the Boardwalk Inn we always parked in the regular self parking area and when we stay there this December I think we will keep parking there.

Sure that wasn't self park before? I could swear that we've parked out there before a few years ago.

I parked in that area this past July. No matter where you park, it's a hike to get to your room.

We parked there in May-but our room was next to the main pool hot tub so it was pretty close actually-and we were ground level.

Thanks for posting, Jean. Parking (and the long halls) is one thing that deters me from staying at BWV, esp. since they took away the free valet perk.

I believe I read that area used to be self parking area, but with the popularity of free valet for DVC, the valet area kept expanding. Then they stopped free valet last year, but did not immediately reduce the then too huge valet lot...
Sounds like they finally fixed that oversight!

When we were there in May we could not turn left at the end of HA parking. We had to make a U turn and go back to make a right turn by the guard shack. Now you can make a left at the end of HA parking so it is easier for those of us who are finding HA parking often full.

Now that I look at the picture (I couldn't see it at work), I've parked in that area before, I don't think it has really changed. I think when I was staying at OKW years ago and wanted to park at boardwalk, they directed me there (turn left at the guard shack). I've also parked there a couple times when the main lot was full.

The more I look at that picture I remember that's the parking area where the security Cast Members always told us to park when we went to visit the Boardwalk and wasn't there a sign that said parking for guests not staying there?

Yes parking was crazy that weekend. We were there too. We tried to park at BCV on Saturday 10/2 to eat at Beaches and Cream and was told no. Only guest and folks with confirmed dining reservations. We went to the BWV self parking (behind hess) and they were fulled and we could not park there either.

We use this on occasion, especially at check-in or when we have lots of bags to carry. But I am a worry wart and concerned about a thread I read on the Transportation Board that said many rental car companies do NOT consider valet attendants to be authorized drivers, so there are legal hassles if any damage occurs while valet parking.

The security CMs were back again on Friday, 10/8 - I assume they will be there through Sunday. And this time I caught a few of the words on the sign (those buses go by FAST, lol). The sign said that parking was restricted to (and that's all I got).

So it appears that the EPCOT resorts parking (at least at BWI/BWV) is monitored very closely during F&W weekends. I noticed a few empty spots in both the "main" self-parking lot and the one behind the valet lot, but not very many and this was mostly in the mornings.

Back home now, wishing we were still there.

Our friends were staying at BWV (and returned home last night). They said in order to park at the self lots, you were stopped by a second guard and had to show them your parking pass AND YOUR room ID card to prove you were a current guest. We have stayed at BWV many times during F&W and this is the norm starting on Friday until Sunday.
