planning a trip to bwv august 09. found several posts other places about the place/room really needing updating. is this underway or done now. seems like one post was a recent visit, talking about the unit looking tired and dated and the mattress being lumpy and uncomfortable. :confused3

Actually it started a year ago. New roof and exterior paint are pretty much done. Now they are working on the inside.

There is scaffolding put up around rooms facing the main pool about last Tuesday or Wednesday. The lifeguard said they are redoing landscaping. We stayed in a 3rd floor standard studio and it was in great condition except the sofa was dirty. I did not see the new wallpaper discussed here on our floor.

There have been reports of some in-room work witnessed at the BoardWalk, but at this point it may just be regular ad hoc maintenance rather than a wholesale rehab.

They did have a refurb of the villas scheduled for Spring '09 but last I heard from a BWV CM it was on indefinitely hold. Also Disney's refurb schedule still lists only the exterior work (building repairs and roof replacement.)

I'd like to know why it's on indefinite hold. They are still collecting dues from us and part of that goes into the renovation fund. It's been a long time since they have done interior renovations.

We sold all of our BWV points. I got tired of having the highest dues for the WDW DVC resorts and tired looking units and hallways. One of the worst sleeping nights ever for us was when we had to sleep on the pull-out couch. I felt like I was sleeping upside down, as our feet were higher than our heads. Hopefully those pull-out sofas have been replaced.

It has been my dream to stay at the BWV, Our 4th of July trip is at the BWV - I hope I dont regret it !! my DS has alot of sensory issues and it will not be relaxing with a bunch of scaffolding around!

They have been replaced recently (within the past couple years). They are the new kind with no bar.

The thing that makes me wonder is I attended the BWV annual meeting in 2003 (I think) and at that time they said they were putting HDTV's in the units and coffee tables in the studios. Never happened. Then at last year's annual meeting, it was reported that renovations were going to happen in 2009. Now it may be on hold????? Where is our renovation money going? The hallways are in sad shape, I think they last replaced those carpets at least 7 or 8 years ago.
