Had to call Maintenance yet again @ BWV. It seems the new light fixtures over the Queen bed in the Studios have a faulty switch. The darn thing wouldn't turn off. Maintenance came & yanked the plug out of the wall behind the bed to turn it off. So now we have no light over the bed. He said the crappy switches were made in China & are all going bad. They've been waiting several weeks for replacement parts. He said we can call to have it plugged back in when we want. I'm thinking of having them plug it back in & just unscrewing the light bulbs when I want to shut it off. I can't even see where the outlet is since the base of the bed is up against the wall where the wire is hanging. I may see if they can supply us with some other light fixture for now even if it's just another floor lamp. This trip is turning into some experience with 6 more nights to go. I'm beginning to think we should have just stayed the whole time @ OKW this trip but it's normally more convenient to be at BWV during F & W.

I share your experiences. We just returned a few days ago. We were so ready to come home after our 16 day trip. We kept telling ourselves to suck it up because rehabs have to happen, but had we been paying cash for our room we would not have accepted some of the issues we had. Our standards seem so low now staying on our dvc points.

It's sad that DVC has reduced our enjoyment of Disney.

If I'm reading correctly, you're saying this is happening in a brand new refurbished room?

Yes, it's one of the newly refurbished rooms. When we got back to the room this evening the light was on & the switch is now working. Hopefully it doesn't break again before we go home next Tuesday.

Refurbished, built new, or converted to DVC from cash rooms, there is always issues. BLT had water and HVAC problems, AKV had/has the hot and cold water reversed for the washing machines, BWV had defective refrigerators when they installed new ones a few years ago, PVB has/had drain and door issues.

I had one of the PVB Studios with the sliding door issues when I stayed there in May.

I wonder if it's cutting corners or incompetence. I'm guessing one leads to the other. You would think that DVC would learn that it may very well "cost" them more in the long run with repairs costs and complaints.

Oh no! Will be there in 4 weeks. DVC member since 2003. Getting concerned over the small things but they are starting to add up. Nothing worse then walking into a DVC room and having issues or the room looking tired. Now the upgrades are failing!? Ahhh!!!! Still love it there and enjoy our visits but am getting a bit worried for the future of DVC, WDW and Disney in general. Iger has done an amazing job but it may be at the expense of their guests and customers, especially the loyal ones?

When a company reports extremely high earnings but quality begins to suffer, there is a disconnect. I hope they begin to realize that and get back to their roots of providing the best experience possible. Like Walt said, its all in the details and guest experience.

We were just there the end of October, in a 2 br upgraded room....no issues at all....everyone love it....enjoy your trip !

We just stayed in a newly renovated studio on the 4th flr. The room was nicely done, no obvious signs of cutting corners. But, there were a few issues with the room. The phone didn't worked, went to the front desk and told them, but it was never fixed. The room was missing an alarm clock and the shower head was either clogged or broke (not sure they were replaced).
