This is kind of a bizarre question, I know, and I apologize in advance because I really didn't know where to post this, but here goes.....DH and I are staying at BWV for our first anniversary. We fly out on a Fri and our anniversary is on Sunday. The top part of our wedding cake is in my parent's freezer nicley packaged, all set to defrost on our anniversary. Since we will not be home, I really want to take the cake with us....it just doesn't seem like it will have the same meaning if we eat it before or after the actual anniversary.....I'm really sentimental in case you haven't noticed :) I know the cake will not taste great but it's the memories that count, right? Anyway, we're renting a car but I'm concerned that we might not have a room ready for us when we arrive. Any idea if BWV would store it in a frig until we get a room assignment? I'll call them and ask but I wanted to see if anyone has had a similar request and had experience with this. Also, if anyone has ideas on how to package it to travel, that would be appreciated as well....thanks so much :flower:

When we checked OUT of OKW...we had leftovers from Le Cellier that we could not BEAR to part with! They were pretty large portions of steaks and sides (hey...we filled up on beer cheese soup and pretzel bread...whaddya want? :confused3 ) But after checking out...DH was going to play golf and I was gonna lounge by the pool. So we told the guys that were gonna keep out luggage for us...you know, I guess they are the bellhops. They are outside where the valet guys are. Anyway, they tagged it and kept it in a refigerator in a special place. No Problem!

BTW...I think it is so great you are going to spend your first anniversary at WDW! The trip we spent at OKW this past May was our 8 year anniversary...and our first trip without DD! We had a blast...although I did miss DD a bit more than I thought I would.

Oh, and BTW...I was AMAZED at how great my cake tasted after a year in the freezer. I mean, it was more than just "edible." It was downright delicious! My mom saved a bunch of flowers from my wedding cake, and every year on DD's home made Bday cake (she is 6 now) my mom decorates the cake with a flower from our wedding cake. cute, huh?

Yup, I am sentimental, too! :teeth:

Thanks so much! Glad to hear too that your cake tasted good...we spent so much time deciding on flavor and filling and then all we got to eat on our wedding day was the samll bit we cut....my mom took great care in packaging it so I think it should be ok....what a really cute idea your mother has with decirating your DD's birthday cake....awwww, I love those kind of stories :goodvibes

Oh dear... If freezing one's cake for a year qualifies as sentimental, I'm afraid of what my parents would be considered. They've still got wedding cake left stored in their freezer. Every year on their anniversary they cut really small pieces off to eat.

That cake will be 35 years old next month!

OMG, that's so sweet!! BTW, we're from RI too :flower:
