BWV Preferred View???

That's where we were Jacque. We had a studio 2 or 3 doors from the end on the third floor. I'm not complaining as our home resort is SSR and we wanted to be in either BWV or BCV due to the F+W festival, so getting a studio at BWV inside the 7 month window, we didn't care if it was standard or preferred, but it did seem like a standard view to me.

The rule seems to be "if you can see the canal, its preferred" rather than "if you can see parking lot, its standard." So if you can see both, seems like its almost always a preferred room.

I'm afraid that doesn't seem to be quite right either. The STD view we had last summer had a clear view of the canal, and Swan resort... Lovely view, and I double checked. It was a standard... Go figure.

I had a standard view last April, room 3002 that faced the Swan and canal also. The old "red building" was below us. Also had a view of Jellyrolls dumpster to the right.

It seems like some rooms are "boarderline" and they fill them as they need to, sometimes standard, sometimes preferred. The original poster's room was the first time I ever heard of a room facing the driveway being classified as preferred. I guess because there was grass between the room and the driveway, they are calling it "garden".

Here is a great file (8 pages!) on the internet with info on most rooms and views at the BW.

I recently stay at the BWV's in a SR on the 2nd floor, at the VERY end of the hall...facing the quiet pool, had a tree in front of my balcony too, but it was considered a PV.
I've stayed on the ground floor NS near the Luna pool twice..considered PV and also upstairs on the 4th floor (4124, I believe), facing the driveway...& this was considered SV.

You should email InstImpress and add your recent rooms choices to their list. They update frequently. Enjoy the file! :)

Exactly as Tim stated......because our room was about three/four doors from the end of the hallway (4131) and it was PV. We had the same parking lot/canal view that Jacquek95 and WDW LVR had---sounds like the same area except we were on the 4th floor. Yet.....people maybe 4 doors down the hallway (closer to the elevators), who had the exact same view of the parking lot and canal, had SV. I had people on these boards tell me this---they were the ones that urged me to call MS/BWV, so I don't know what their rule-of-thumb is

This is exactly how we felt.....we were in room 4131 and a couple doors down from us was standard, while we were preferred. Sounds very similar to the area WDW Lovr described :

As the OP stated, we'll also be more specific in what we request next time. Thanks for posting your follow-up with MS Meir56013.

I know exactly the room you mean--I just came back and was "upgraded" from standard to preferred view. The room I got was next to yours--4129. And I felt if this was a preferred view that I used more points for (instead of the free "upgrade") I would not have been happy at all. I can testify that you are not exaggerating, the view is largely of the parking lot, although you DO see the waterway to MGM if you wear blinders and only look to your right.

I think DVC has a lot of nerve to call this room, and others like it, preferred. I am pretty sure that's why I got this free upgrade--most people who used more points for a preferred view would complain about this one. And I don't blame them one bit! I was so thrilled after over 20 trips to be upgraded, only to have my thrill turn to extreme disappointment when I saw the actual view. The rooms just before the right turn in the hall leading to the rooms we weren't too happy with, rooms 4115, 4117, 4119 and 4121 are all standard view but much better IMHO . They overlook the front of the resort and a fountain, plus you can see a great view of the Illuminations fireworks. I don't think water or trees should equal preferred, especially if 75% or more of the view is of the parking lot. :sad2:
