BWV Preferred View Worth It?

You don't have much chance getting a standard view at the seven month window. These go VERY fast. People call day by day to get them at eleven months.
This is not necessarily so. Yes, at certain times of the year especially during F&W, the holidays and the Flower and Garden show SV rooms are at a premium to get and also SV rooms always go first but to say there is not much chance at a 7 month window or that you have to call day by day at 11 months is just not so.
I have stayed at BWV more times than I can count and I NEVER reserve at 11 months and I have gotten a SV room well under 7 months many times. Yes, there are times when I have to alter my dates slightly but there have been many times I have gotten a SV under 7 months. There have also been times that I could not get a SV and had to go with a PV but that is usually when I cut it really close and I'm in a 4 mo or less window. I have also had good success with waitlisting for SV rooms.
But back to the original question........Are the BWV PV pts worth it??? For a Boardwalk view, without a question they are worth every pt and more. Is it worth it for the PVs everywhere else? Yes because you still get a much nicer view, some villas have very nice views like the S&D and the quiet pool, waterway to MGM etc but it is not as big of a bang for your buck as the Boardwalk view is.
I have stayed all over BWV, so I have had all the views and when I make my reservation I always ask first for SV if nothing is available even with altering my travel dates then I book a PV. If I book a SV I request a room down by the tennis courts, if I book a PV room I request a Boardwalk or quiet pool view. I always get my SV request because most people don't want the rooms far from the elevator, with PV rooms I usually get either a quiet pool or I have also been very lucky with getting Boardwalk views. I think the reason I have gotten so lucky with Boardwalk views is I am not picky if it is a smoking room and I always check in the earliest I possibly can.

Our first trip home was last year in a standard studio. We loved the view and enjoyed seeing the Illuminations fireworks. We are usually not in the room much and aren't ones to sit on the balcony. We like to go for 10 days or more and it makes more sense to us to go standard. We absolutely love the BW area and the location, so with whatever view, I think your friends will love it as well.

We will be at BWV Mar 10, 2004 and originally booked a standard 1- BR. We decided last week to change to a standard studio. I did not expect one to be available and knew we would have to waitlist, but surprisingly there was still one available. So don't give up hope, you're close to the 7 month window and might have good luck like we did.

Our first two visits to BWV, we had PV and got Luna Park. Okay, but not the BW. Now we book SV whenever we can. I would actually prefer the quiet pool to the clown, although a BW view would be great.

Our last visit in June, we were offered an "upgrade" to PV due to the renovation. It would have been another Luna Park view, but a handicapped-equipped room.. We elected to stay with the SV and ended up with a room on the back side of the Crest o' the Wave building, overlooking a small courtyard.

Here's the view I had from BWV in May 2003...

I wanted a standard studio, but couldn't get one booked. I wound up on the third floor, sitting right on top of the Big River Grill & brewpub. I didn't hear any noise but I was out at PI at night anyway.
