I just returned from a BWV stay (1/11-1/19). Before I left I read some horror stories of guaranteed boardwalk view rooms being "not available" upon arrival etc. Also, there was the "Luna Park pool closed" issue.

Well - I just wanted to post a positive report. We arrived very late on Friday night (about 11:30pm). Our room was ready (thank goodness! :rotfl2: ) and we had our guaranteed boardwalk view studio. I got my request - high floor and WAY down the hallway (better view of Epcot) - Room 5007, which is 3 rooms from the end of the hallway. Room was clean and everything in order - and our view was glorious.

I reserved another room for friends coming in on Sunday. They arrived around noon and their room was not ready. No surprise there. It was ready around 4pm and again I got what I requested - preferably on the same floor and preferably near our room. Well, they got room 5006, across the hall and one room down. Perfect location! (thanks room assigner!!) They had a great view of Tower of Terror and after seeing their view, I would not mind it at all - if I had to give up my boardwalk view! :)

The pool was closed, but the golf cart shuttle service to SAB was wonderful. The lifeguards were polite and sweet and were basically at our beck and call. (not many others choosing to swim when the weather was 60-65) BTW - they required wrist bands at BCV even in January and even in the chilly weather.

Parks were more crowded than last year. LOTS of tour groups (more than I have ever seen in 5 years going in January!), and it seems I hit a couple parks on the "wrong" days. Friday the 18th at AK it was a zoo - no pun intended! :lmao: (fast passes for safari gone by noon) and it just felt crowded - even in a light sprinkling rain there were people every where. But met a CM who told me the day before it was "dead". However, using my "normal" strategy (get there when the park opens) - we were able to do all the rides we wanted with minimal waits. It was just the afternoons that got a little crazy - it seemed the tour groups showed up them. If we saw a large group following a little flag - we went the other way!!

One last thing - no coffee available before 6:30am - not at Belle Vue or the Bakery. I thought for sure I got coffee last year at 6am... But, Mary (the morning server) at Belle Vue became my new best friend when she would show up early to get ready and would offer me coffee before she officially opened. (I get up early and leave the room to work on my computer before my family wakes up... crazy, I know.) Oh yes, refillable mugs all the same style (no differing resorts - one main style)... and they still said 2007 as of January 12 when I bought mine. :goodvibes

Thanks for the report. Glad to hear that your BWV experience was a positive one!

I love her ! She was fantastic. I got great service from her every morning for a week. She was cheery and quick and helpful.

We were in room 3007 on our last trip. I know what you mean by the great view of Epcot. It was a straight shot at Spaceship Earth and was magical. Too bad we only had that room for 1 night but it was worth it.

Mary was great and yes - just a super, can do, happy, can I help you kind of an attitude. I loved it. Made my early mornings much brighter. :)

As for the view, I book 11 months out to ensure my boardwalk view. (we invited the friends about 6 months out and could not get boardwalk view for them) When we walked in the room close to midnight the first night and I opened the drapes - it was a wonderful "Wow!" feeling. The "golf ball" all lit up. The water. The lights on the boardwalk and at Beach Club - it is just lovely. We sat out on the balcony and enjoyed an adult beverage until about 1am just enjoying the peace and beauty of it.

I am just barely back and my SIL is asking about next year when she and my nephew want to come with us. Looks like I will be booking again very soon for the same time frame next year! :woohoo:
