Just read on sponsor's site that the keister coaster will be closed beginning 1/8 but, pool will remain open. F-DIL is upset, spec. reason they picked the resort.

Suppose I can call & see what else is available at such late date but, just wondering if DVC has a policy of notifying members of such closures when they actually make or have ressies for those time periods. Sure think it would be a nice idea to send an email advising of same to members.

Pool hopping is not an option for them because my son no longer lives @ home & doesn't have a DVC card.

Any suggestions?

stranger yet...

just called MS & they have no record on file of the slide closing. she even called the operator @ BW who said they haven't heard anything of the sort.

said normally a letter is mailed to member months ahead of time to alert them to this fact.

hope this site's sponsor & allears is wrong, wrong, wrong on this one.

In the past, those staying at BWV were allowed to hop to SAB when the slide was closed, and vice versa.

Not sure what they will do this year, but I know first hand that pool hopping restrictions were lifted for affected guests.

allears is generally correct.

someone here was saying that the slide really needed a rehab.

spicey cat - We've only visited once last June although we had stars in our eyes lol, thought the slide was in fine shape. If anything the hot tub could use an update.

Liferbabe - Do you think they'd let my son (who doesn't qualify for the DVC member card due to his address change) pool hop too; or just make that accommodation to members staying on points?

I specifically asked the CM if they would make any other accommodation as to pool hopping but, she said typically no.

Additionally, she said although we could try & book another resort there was no availability & the banked points would still be subject to UY restrictions.

when the slide is closed - Disney does allow you to use another resorts slide.

so he this isn't called pool hopping.

the other slide might even be SALB.

the complaint I heard was the slide was gliding right? :confused3

it was a little jerkie?

you must have gotten a new CM - because when the slide is closed they generally do allow pool hoping.

but this January they might not - there are a bunch of pools (with slides) closed then.

you can alway hope that it is so cold he doesn't want to swim.....

well....they will be on their honeymoon;) . They would be so psyched if they could use SAB after they saw our pics from last trip.

Wonder how I should confirm the closure, since DVC said it's not happening?:confused3

Thought the keister coaster was a wild one, but fun.

Hmm, wonder how long the slide will be closed for? We arrive on the 17th of Jan. We stayed at BWV one time (oct 03 maybe?) when the slide was closed and yes they did allow us to use SAB.

Just subbing as we have reservations at BWV for late January and I want to know the official word on this. ALthough I agree with others...allears is usually right.

We had the reverse happen to us. SAB was closed for 2 days of our trip. They allowed us to use BWV and even ran extra boat service.

Then another time (didnt they just rehab the Keiser a few years ago?) I remember them allowing BWV guests to use SAB.

BWV is a mixed use property (DVC and Hotel guests) so although DVC members are more forgiving of rehabs, there are other guests who may be on their lifetime trip and paid big bucks to stay there and they will want a slide even in January.

Sorry, I should have clarified that BWI/BWV guests were allowed to use SAB.

And Lexxie, great memory!! It was in 2003! We were there in Sept 03.

We were at BW when the slide was rehab'd too. I remember they ran a golf cart shuttle back and forth from the pool area to SAB. We just had to show our room card, not our DVC card.

It has been scheduled for awhile.

BWV Rehab

I was there again in Oct and reconfirmed the closure. :( At that time, no exact date had been set.

Hey thanks! :goodvibes Maybe they will fix the slide so you don't get a sore butt from going down it. When we were there last month I felt every bump going down. :rotfl: I still love it anyway though.

As of 10 AM today, MS still has no word that this rehab is taking place. Fpr those that have been DVCers for a long time...is this usual?? Is it possible that MS would NOT have this information?

We noticed in May that the surface of the slide was worn in places. There was noticeable friction as you went over those patches that slowed you down as you went down the slide. I'm looking forward to trying it again after the refurb!

They did a rehab of this slide in Oct 03 and allowed all guests to use SAB. They even provided transportation via golf cart.

Called MS & BW again today, still they insist no slide rehab in June...otherwise the letters would have gone out.

Guess I'll tell DS to inquire @ checkin as to whether it indeed is closing & whether they can use another slide @ another resort.

DS & DIL are fine with it, I'm somewhat embarassed as to not knowing the details one way or the other.:confused3

If slide is going to be closed & they "forgot" to mail out notices of same, shame on them...I'm getting very close to the 30 day cancellation period.

the slide closing is in January: - Keister Coaster pool slide closed from 1/8 - 1/21/07 (Pool remains open) as listed here on the DIS, not June.
