Can someone please remind me of the floor numbers at BWV?

Is lobby = 2nd floor?
1 floor below lobby = 1st floor?
Any other floors below lobby?
How many floors are above lobby?

(Sorry for asking so many questions today!)

5 floors total. Lobby is #2, so 3 floors above and 1 under.

The lobby exits out to the bus stop on ground level. The first floor exits out to the pool on ground level. BW is a huge walkout house. You WILL take stairs or the (two small, slow and only off the lobby) elevator, there is no way to avoid it. Best for families that can do a couple flights of stairs.

You certainly CAN avoid the stairs if you'd like, you just have to be willing to walk to the elevators (located on either side of the main lobby) from wherever you are. Using the stairs can definitely be beneficial at BWV though. We have no problem with the stairs and at times find them easier and more convenient than the elevator depending on our room location. The stairs that go down to the BW itself from the lobby aren't bad and you also have a set of stairs down to the BW area directly from the walkway to the bus stop. The stairs definitely aren't for everyone though depending on any mobility issues and in that case you'll just have to use the elevator more.

Everyone certainly has their personal preferences. We love BWV, so any extra walking or anything like that is certainly worth it for us. That may not be the case for someone with mobility issues though. You didn't mention any though so I wouldn't worry about it.

Yes, that is why I said you have to be willing to take the stairs OR the elevator. But a lot of people find the elevators at BWVs really insufficient, and being dependent on them grates.

Yea it can definitely be quite a walk to the elevators depending where your room is located. That's where a willingness to utilize the stairs comes in handy. We've never really had an issue with the elevators, but we also don't mind a little walk or using the stairs. So I could see where being totally dependent on them could end up being a little annoying.

Thanks!

I'm okay with stairs or elevator, I just prefer not to have a room on the ground floor.

Me either, but if I had grandma in the ECV and two strollers, I might feel differently about a BWV stay. The elevators are not large, and there have been plenty of times when we've grabbed the stairs - particularly in the morning and evening - having learned that the elevators can get packed with people + strollers/ecvs.

For sure. Party size and the makeup of the party can certainly dictate some things. With that said, we'd gladly deal with any extra elevator inconvenience to stay at BWV over some other places. We just love it there. That's "our spot". That's certainly not to say that everyone feels that way though, nor should they.

We tend to get blinded towards BWV because of how much we love it lol We're always so amazed when we read on here that someone would pick SSR or AK (just using as examples) over BWV. As if though that's some amazing unheard of thing lol

Its home for us as well, and I love it. But I'm not blind to the fact that it isn't a great resort if you can't take stairs - or that the pool is not the best if your kids are little. And since its a difficult resort to get at seven months much of the year, I think its fair to clue people into its faults, so they don't struggle for a reservation at a resort that ends up disappointing. It certainly wouldn't be my first pick of resorts for the stroller set.

I definitely see what you're saying. I think it's great regardless of stairs/elevator though, but again that's just me. Everyone is definitely different with that. We also have never minded it with the stroller, but maybe that's just cuz we've gotten so used to it there. Who knows. Either way, I definitely understand and respect your points! Cool thing about having so many different options within DVC, you can find whatever fits for that trip!

I've never thought the elevators themselves were an issue - they're pretty standard hotel elevators and I've been in many smaller in my travels. The issue IMO is that there is only one bank for the DVC side (and then a bank for the hotel side plus one elevator from near the Bellevue lounge down to the ground floor). So, if you need or want the elevator you have a single option and with BWV's long wings it can be a walk to get to them before you can get to/from another floor. The architect wasn't thinking about easy accessibility when they built BWV but then most things at Disney require a lot of walking.

No doubt about this! There can definitely be a bit of walking if your room is at the end of 1 of the wings. I just don't find it to be excessively more than at other resorts and I certainly would never let it stop me from staying at BWV. All of the good at BWV far outweighs that, for us at least.

I've stayed at BWV before - I just couldn't remember how many floors there are. So no worries about me being surprised when I get there.

I prefer a hotel with one entrance (even if long hallways) to one with many buildings. I stayed at Port Orleans Riverside once, and I was not happy walking through the grounds in the dark to get from the bus stop to the "mansion" building where my room was - and I was in the "mansion" closest to the bus stop.

And if I find myself thinking unhappy thoughts about the elevator situation when I'm at BWV, I will think of all of you saying, "We told you so!"

If you find yourself thinking unhappy thoughts about the elevators... you'll remember you're in WDW at the BWV and it's all good lol have a great time!
