Our first stay at BWV is scheduled for February (6 nights). We have a 1 bedroom with a garden view, and are on the waitlist for a Boardwalk view. My DH has some mobility issues due to an leg injury so we will have an ECV. (We did not request a handicapped accessible room because he can generally get around ok in a hotel room and didn't want to take a room from someone who needs it more). We're in our early 50s, love the rides but our days of kamikazee-ing thru the parks are over. We plan to do as much as we can but without the dumbo-til-we-drop momentum. We're looking forward to relaxing at night at the places on the Boardwalk, etc. The only time I've been on the Boardwalk has been running thru it during the WDW Marathon and 10K. So... can anyone recommend good threads on this site? Or good recommendations for us? I've tried to read through as many as I could find (including Shamus' room location one which, frankly, I don't understand some of the acronyms??) but haven't found one yet with a really good overview of the resort (from a DVC perspective). And, although I know it's been addressed a bit in Shamus' link, what areas are the farthest walk from the bus and boat transportation? Is it really "that far"? We stayed at CSR for our 10th anniversary many years ago and were in a distant building - and it had a slightly negative impact on our trip. I'd like to avoid a repeat of that, if possible. Thanks for any assistance!!!

With a stroller, I preferred ground floor, (lobby is on floor 1, but most dining is on the ground level, too) as we could access boat and bus transportation without waiting on BWV's 2, slow elevators.

Until Kidani, BWV held the title of longest hallways, which is compounded by BWV only having 1 set of elevators

The main elevators for the DVC side are off the lobby which is on The 2nd floor. To access the Boardwalk area, take the elevators (goes to floors 1 to 5) to the 1st floor, and pass by the workout room and out thru the double doors: Turn right thru the breezeway and you'll have access to shops and restaurants on the Boardwalk as well as the boats to Epcot or the Studios. (Turn left to get to the clown pool area or a shorter walk to the studios).

Opposite the lobby check in is the Boardwalk Inn side, where there is an additional single elevator that will take you down to the Boardwalk area. The Boardwalk Lounge is also on this side, drinks, and also small breakfast items available in the morning.

It should be very easy to use and get around in an ECV at the Boardwalk. You will have a great time. It's our home resort and favorite!

Whenever we have a garden/pool view, we request "highest floor and near the elevator". This has always worked out extremely well for us. There's only 1 set of elevators so being near it will be key for you guys having the ECV. We like it because the stairs are right there as well, so we have multiple options. Being relegated to only the elevator though, you don't want to be TOO far away. The highest floor part is up to you really, we just always prefer that. That's more of a personal preference. Although I do think it helps with the view as well, especially if you're lucky enough to get a G/P view with a good view of the DHS fireworks.

All in all, I would say "close to the elevator" is really your most important request in this situation. You guys are gonna absolutely LOVE staying at Boardwalk. So much to do and so convenient. You can come and go at your own pace and not be stuck on a bus everywhere you go. Enjoy and good luck with the request!

If you are going to walk to DHS, make sure to look at a map before you head out. You don't want to end up going the long way around!! :)

I love the Boardwalk area a night. It's all lit up and the lights reflecting off the water just add a magical touch.

IMO, the Boardwalk Bakery has the best chocolate chip cookies at WDW. We will sometimes grab breakfast there too. But we will also head over to the marketplace at the Beach Club for breakfast, or head over to Epcot. Yacht Club also has a new marketplace for quick serve stuff, but I haven't been there yet, so I can't provide my opinion on that.

Have a great trip!

Having just stayed there recently in April - in a garden studio. We had a 5th floor room and were probably 1/2 way down the hall. I didn't find it that inconvenient to get to the elevators or lobby.

As long as you are not diabetic -- definitely hit the ice cream shop -- probably the best i have ever had! With the EVC you can make your way down to HS by the walk way- a nice stroll if you don't have anything going on.

Here is a thread i had started prior to my trip. https://www.disboards.com/threads/h...rite-or-lesser-known-things-about-it.3577150/
