We are planning to book BWV for NYE 2013 at 11 mo. Assuming there is availability for both, which would you pick for a preferred view?

Boardwalk or Pool/Garden?

I've stayed Pool/Garden (luna park pool view, LOVED it) but DH wants BW if we can get it.

Pro for BW would be possibility of fireworks and just the general view
Con could be noise.

DH has super sonic hearing and I worry about the noise, however we aren't exactly early to bed folks. That said, the only time we've had an issue at WDW was at OKW when folks were in the "quiet" pool long past official pool hours. We had a similar situation at the YC but once the verandah door was closed you couldn't hear a thing. At OKW we could definitely hear.

Of course we will be in a 2B with 4 teenage boys, possibly 5 so the noise inside could be worse than outside. LOL!

Thoughts?

Not sure how to say this, we had a grand villa at BWV, that's a preferred view. NYE, there will be noise. People are out & the noise carries.

For NYE I would try for BW view. You are guaranteed a view of the fireworks. Epcot is shoulder-to-shoulder on NYE so we came back to BW, hung out on the Village Green with the DJ and went to our balcony to watch the fireworks. Preferred view might be quieter, but I don't think there is a great chance of quiet anywhere in WDW on NYE. You could get people celebrating in the room next door or across the hall at any resort.

With a boardwalk view you will hear the boat horns into the early morning hours. But if you can get that view it's worth a little lost sleep!

Just had our 3rd stay in BWV and they all have required ear plugs for me. Next will be back to Standard view and I'm hoping for the quiet and peace of the tennis court area.

For me Boardwalk view will always have a trade off of the view vs. the noise. It just depends on what is more important to you for your trip. I like to mix it up and just prepare for the noise if that's the view of choice.

We've had 3 NYEs at BWV, and all have been in standard views.. Same for this year. Once DDIL stayed behind because 2 DGC were sleeping and she was able to catch some fireworks from our balcony. (We would have stayed with the DGC, but we thought she was out enjoying the fun, the kids just collapsed & she took them back to the room.)

I like the bw view so much it's the only view we've booked there in many years. I never cared for illuminations unless I was seeing them from epcot. The boat horns and the lake balcony is my favorite welcome home.

NYE there will be noise anywhere, I expect that. It's the nights before and after I am concerned about with DH sleeping. But we love our verandahs and it might just mean packing the earplugs. Which he needs to do regardless.

I agree about NYE, not looking or expecting that. Good point, and alternative on the fireworks for NYE, at this point not even sure what we'd want to try to do as I need to so some homework in that area. Do both Epcot and MK have special ones at midnight or how does that even work?

We love our views and our verandahs. As much as I love the points for a standard but I think I'll just need to make sure we pack for noise. We will have 3 quiet days at the end once we move to THV.

That is the lovely thing about just being in the Epcot area, you can catch somethings from almost anywhere at times.

It's funny, I hadn't considered the boat horns. Which could be a missed blessing. How early/late do they go?

I think we'd like Illuminations from there but you certainly can't see it the same way as being right in Epcot.
