BWI versus YC?

I am trying to decide on a Boardwalk area resort for a post chemo celebration trip. We may have ruled out BC, but what are everyones opinions about BWI versus YC? Which do you like better and why?

We stayed at BWI in May 2003 and YC December 2003. We really, really liked the BWI, but weren't too entralled by the YC. Here are our reasons: we had a much nicer standard view at BWI, we thought the bedding and decor at BWI was much cheerier and pleasing, the walk to Epcot and MGM was shorter at BWI. We actually liked the BWI pool better (of course it could be the time of year...it was a bit cool in Dec at YC) and liked being close to the bakery for breakfast and late night items (as compared to Beaches and Cream).

I think you'll like both resorts (we did), but we loved BWI.

I also prefer the BWI. Less kids, very quiet and cozy. I also prefer the decor, and think that the level of service there was better than that at the YC.

My dilemna also except I told the kids (ages 11 and 9) that they could choose next time where we stay and they really want SAB so we will try YC after two times at BWI and once at Poly. I'm sure it will be nice but it will be interesting to see what we all want to do the time after that!

We have stayed at YC and BW. We love them both, but for different reasons.

Yacht Club

Great pool
Beaches and Cream
Beautiful decor
Can have great views of Illuminations and BW
Very friendly staff (esp. with kids)
Longer walk to Epcot and MGM (although still easy)

BWI

Great waterslide (but overall, YC pool is much better)
Feel like you are part of the action (always something going on)
Boardwalk Bakery for a quick breakfast or dessert
Easy walks to Epcot and MGM
Staff not as accomodating or friendly as YC

Bottom line is you can't go wrong with either choice!

I have stayed at both and personally much prefer the BWI. The only reason I would stay at YC or BC is for Stormalong Bay(pool). I actually think the CM at BWI have some of the best staff on property! BWI is convienent to EPCOT and MGM!!

IF you have the option of staying concierge at BWI, DO IT! They are great!!!

We have not tried YC, but I can offer an opinion on BWI: it is our family's favorite resort! We love everything about it. We love the location, the decor, the size of the rooms, the Luna Park pool and that great slide, the easy walk to Epcot, the proximity to the restaurants along the Boardwalk, and the "feel" of this resort. Like something out of the Great Gatsby movie.

We never find the staff to be unfriendly toward us. We have stayed here over 10 times and only had a somewhat bad experience once. (when we were assigned a room with a small pulpet type balcony instead of a full one, and the housekeeper kept her cart outside our door all day) Wouldn't be enough to keep us from returning!

I've stayed in both and they were both fabulous.

Yacht Club has the perk of having access to Stormalong Bay as well as a beach. It is also connected to the Beach Club which offers access to additional amenities in certain ways I guess. We had a corner room water view and it was really breathtaking. We had a view of the Boardwalk, and it was really neat!

Boardwalk Inn, is for some reason, more charming to me. I'm a sucker for the Boardwalk though, so perhaps I'm biased. But the Boardwalk has the perk of having a nightly entertainment complex right there, which we tend to like. Also the rooms at BWI are extremely well decorated...very pretty. And, if you can get a Boardwalk view, that is really fun too.

So it's a tough toss up. We really loved both, but it really depends on what your preferences are. If it were me, I would lean just a teeny bit towards Boardwalk Inn because it's charming, love the entertainment, and watching people on the BW. But my husband would probably say Yacht Club because the views are great there too, there's a beach, and he's a sucker for Stormalong Bay
