BUZZ LIGHTYEAR IN REFURB THE WEEK OF JULY 19th

I was glancing at the entertainment schedule and noticed that Buzz was in refurb starting July 19th through Friday. Looks like it opens again on Saturday of that week.

The ride stopped on us twice and on my kids three times in the same ride. With so much shooting going on, it didn't bother them, but maybe a refurb is needed.

That has happened to me before when a lot of people with disabilities must have been riding. I had to have stopped about 4-5 times during the ride.

Definitely a bummer for those who will be there then, but I've really been feeling Buzz could use a little bit of TLC. Last week when we were waiting in line, more cars than usual in need of repair went by with unsightly tarps covering them. A number of other ride elements looked like they could use a little attention too. It would be nice to get on a recently cleaned up and tuned up Buzz Lightyear ride.

I am so bummed. I am wheelchair user and this is one of the few rides I can actually ride. I love going on it. Oh well we arrive on July 18. I guess I will just have to ride it then.

Seems like bad timing considering the new movie just came out.

Of course ... just as my son is now heavily into Buzz Lightyear ... we will be there Friday the 23rd. Fingers crossed that it reopens early?!

On a semi-related note, when in Tomorrowland does Buzz do meet-and-greet? Near the ride? Near Innoventions?

Thanks for the heads up! I am bummed it will be down the entire length of our trip. It is a family tradition to try and beat Dad! Although we have been on many, many times between DLR and WDW disappointed we won't be able to do so this time around. Oh well at least we at still at Disney!!

It does seem a little surprising in light of the new movie, but maybe they figured they've got TSMM, so it's not as big a deal. It seems like we may as well learn to expect a few refurbs in the summer these days to keep up with the maintenance and construction. Last summer, I guess they focused on Fantasyland since they did Pinocchio and Snow White. Peter Pan got it's refurb spring 2009. This summer's focus seems to be Tomorrowland with the Buzz refurb and the beginning of the Star Tours reboot.

they're probably putting in some new toy story 3 stuff. just like with toy story mania.
