Help!

We're staying for 5 nights, but only want unlimited park hopper passes for 4 nights, 5 days. I read on Allears.net that the two ways to get UPH's are: 1) in advance from CRO for the exact same amount of time you are staying at the resort (which would be 5 nights 6 days for us, which is too much) or 2)to buy directly from the resort when you get there and if you go this route you can buy for however many days you would like.

Has this been the case for all of you? Do any of you know how to get the passes ahead of time when NOT wanting the full length of your stay?

There is no way to purchase Ultimate Park Hoppers ahead of time, and have the same flexibility as if you were to buy them at the resort desk.

Guest Services has FAR more flexibility than the CMs at the Reservation center.

Dan,

Do you have to be checked in to that resort before you buy them?

We will be at Wilderness Lodge on Saturday and will transfer over to Beach Club on Sunday through Thursday. We want the UPH's for Sunday through Wednesday, and would like to hit Blizzard Beach first think Sunday morning. But that's our day to check into Beach Club, too.

I am assuming I will have to check into Beach Club very early Sunday morning to pay and get the UPH's. Is this correct, or can I somehow get them from Beach Club a day earlier?

If I'm reading you correctly, you are not wanting to use your UPH on the day you arrive and stay at WL. If this is correct, then I think your strategy would be to purchase your 5-day/4-night UPHs at BC on Sunday. It's unclear when you're traveling, but I think BB doesn't usually open until around 10am, so you should have some time to head over to BC, buy your passes, then head to the parks. I don't believe you could buy your passes at BC on Saturday and there is no way that I know of to do this in advance (in fact, if you tried to do this in advance, you would likely be charged for two separate UPHs - a 2-day/1-night associated with your WL stay and 4-day/3-night associated with your BC stay).

Rae,

The park passes are tied into your room key, so you will have to check-in at the Beach Club first. Have you looked at Deb Willis's site to do a cost analysis? If you go here http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/ticketchart.htm she shows the price breakdown and I think it actually works out to be less expensive if you pre-purchase a 5 day park hopper + blizzard beach admission, or the 5 day park hopper plus if you are planning on doing any other extras. From what I can see it looks like this:

pre-purchase 5 day park hopper $245 + BB $33 = $278
pre-purchase 5 day park hopper plus = $276
wait until check-in to purchase 5 day UPH = $300

It might work out better for you to pre-purchase the park hopper plus and you'll have it in hand when you arrive at Disney.

Thanks so much for all the great info. I apologize for not explaining myself very well.

DH and I are staying at Wilderness Lodge prior to family joining us. DH and I will have annual passes.

Family will join us Saturday night, and we will do Hoop de Doo that night. No need for them to have any sort of passes for that day.

They will need passes starting Sunday when we transfer to Beach Club and want to do Blizzard Beach, and possibly Pleasure Island.

Monday will be Epcot.
Tuesday: MGM
Wednesday: Magic Kingdom.

Check out early Thurs. morning.

So, we will be staying at beach Club 4 nights, and if I get the advance UPH, I will be charged 4 nights/5 days. But, we only need 4 days because we won't be visiting the parks on check out day..

Someone on another board said she talked to a CM who said that they will let her advance purchase one day short, if they want to drop the arrival or departure day. I'm going to call tomorrow and see if I can get the same deal.

Thanks again for the help. I appreciate it so much, and will let you know how my phone call tomorrow goes.

PS. I just looked at my previous post and realized I made a mistake when I said 5 nights at BCV. Sorry.....

Rae,

Please post back and let us know if CRO is able to drop one day and still give you the pre-purchase discount. The post you linked to is the first time I've read about that happening. Even on an advance purchase, they still need to check in at the Beach Club before going to Blizzard Beach. The UPH's are tied into the room keys.

I wanted this for my Sept. visit and the CM said all we could do was split the reservations and I was able to get the advance purchase discount on the tickets. The CM was very helpful and got me the split reservations (without having to move from our room) and UPHs we wanted. If it weren't for Frances I could claim a perfect vacation LOL!!. HTH

Just wanted to mention that if the trip was booked using DVC points, you will NOT be able to pre-purchase the UPH. DVC is not equipped to handle the pre-purchase. CRO won't even be able to find your reservation.

However, DVC members receive a 10% discount off of the "Gate" prices for the UPH. This discount is applied when you check in, and the first/last days can be dropped if necessary.

Tjkratz,
You are one step ahead of me. My very next question was whether how all of this was affected by a DVC reservation.

I've now changed plans completely and will only do the UPH for three days and will get it when we check into BCV.

Thanks, everyone, for all the great info.

Oh yeah, and since I'm booked on DVC points I was unable to call CRO today to find out if they would drop the first or last day on an advance purchase like they did the previous poster. So if anyone else has any relevant experiences, please post it here.
