Buying trip insurance thru United if using United CC

Hi everyone! I purchase airfare thru United and was given the option to purchase trip insurance. However,
looking thru the benefits of my United Explorers Card it looks like trip insurance is an included benefit of the card. Has anyone purchase additional insurance thru United when their credit card has this benefit?

Agreed no need to pay for extra coverage you probably don't need.

I guess what I'm asking is - is the insurance offered thru United Explorers Card the same coverage offered thru United Airlines. Of course I don't want to pay for

The insurance offered through the Explorer card is one of the best offered by credit card companies. We have made a claim in the past for a trip we couldn't make due to a family medical emergency and we had our check for all our out of pocket expenses within 10 days of making the claim. It is a different insurance than they offer when you purchase your ticket.
