So my family is going to be a the world for MNSSHP and we were looking to go to the Oct 17th party. I found an auction on ebay that is selling 4adult tickes and 3children tickets starting bid 99.00 dollars. It seems like a really good bargin even if I bid 130 its still a discount. I checked the seller and they seem like one of the good ones. My questions after all that is there any disers that have bought tickets on ebay and was the outcome good or bad? Thanks Amanda

There are many posts here by the experts that advise against buying from ebay.

One DIS'er was in line behind a family whose father bought their tickets on ebay, and they were all expired. They had to get out of line and pay full gate price. The problem is that no one can check what is actually on the ticket until they get to a Guest Services office on the property. By that time, it seems the only recourse you might have is to file a report; you could have lost all your money.

Disney prints on their tickets that they are not transferable, so if something happens, you are out of luck. I know you would possibly be saving money, but personally, I would be worried the whole time that the tickets might be invalid. Research a authorized ticket broker like Ticketmania or Undercovertourist.

I second that thought!

I would think that current finger scan practices have pretty much eliminated any transferability of tickets. Reselling Disney tickets is illegal, and not worth any discount you may feel you get when you get turned away at the gates. The only winners - the slime that sold them to you on ebay.

If the tickets are for the MNSSHP with a specific date of October 17, 2006, they can't be expired tickets. I think the other posts are referring to regular park admission tickets.

I seen that on ebay, for some reason they purchased them and now can't go. They are trying to recoup some if not all of their money back. I say if the seller has excellent feedback, just email them to make sure everything has its T's crossed and bid.

If the seller has good feedback then I would do it (ONLY for party tickets, not regular admission). The tickets will say that date they are for on the back, so they can't be previously used.

Since the party tickets are non refundable, if something comes up and a person can't go they only way to get their money back is by selling them.

I wouldn't take the chance, and I wouldn't necessarily trust that the seller is one of the 'good ones'. There are ways for sellers to 'puff up' their ratings.

It's your decision, of course. As others have said, there's less of a chance of a problem with party tickets than with admission tickets.

Don't set yourself up for a fall. It's early days with that auction. There are 6 days left so the price could shoot up to face value and beyond - why oh why people bid above face value for tickets that are freely available is beyond me but they do!! But I know that's not that case with you.

Be careful with Ebay - lots of the MNSSHP auctions are claiming the tickets are sold out or they're overinflating the face value of the tickets. I would read all feedback for any poster I was buying from.

Just one thing that makes me curious - seller says there are 7 tickets but the photo shows 8. It might be a simple oversight or perhaps she sold one separately, just thought it was a bit odd.

Have been stewing about some of the answers regarding the question posted and had to get this off my chest. I will tell you the story behind these tickets. My wife's sister has spent most of the year battling lung cancer. She has it seems (thank God )won that battle and she and my wife planned a family vacation at Disney to celebrate. First trip for sister-in-law and family. We all purchased MNSSHP tickets in advance. Complications (radiation pneumonitis or fibrosis) arising from her radiation (chemo went well) are preventing her from going. She was not looking to get more than what she paid - just trying to recoupe a little of what she spent and by no means is she a "slime" as suggested by one op. Regarding the eighth ticket - that's one of the 2 - I bought (we decided to eat the cost) and should not have been in the picture. My mistake.

I am very sorry to hear about your SIL.

(That said, I would still NOT buy tickets off of EBAY. If something goes wrong you have NO recourse. I left my MVMCP tickets at home a few years ago by accident. I went to guest relations and they were able to find the transaction and print me a new ticket which automatically voided the "lost" ticket. To me that peace of mind is not worth a few dollar savings)

Woodman,

I assume you, or your sister-in-law, are the individual who put the tickets up for auction. Knowing that you are a dis-er is a big relief. I will keep your family in my prayers and am very sorry that you had to cancel your trip.

Please understand that what people have said is in no means meant to insult you. It is always scary to purchase tickets on ebay for several of the things mentioned by other posters such as expired and phony tickets, non-transfereable tickets and the like; not to mention that you are buying from a complete stranger. I don't think people fully read that they were tickets to the party, not the park. Since the party tickets are specifically dated they can't be expired and they aren't attached to anyone via biometrics.

I work at TDS and have had numerous calls over the years from people who purchased tickets off of ebay only to get to the parks and find out that they were never activated, they had been stolen from a Disney Store location and sold on ebay. Since our tickets are out in the open like a Best Buy gift card they are stolen often. This is the primary concern about buying tickets on ebay. You won't know until you show up at the gate and try to use them. I also hear about people purchasing used tickets with remaining days that have actually expired as another poster mentioned.

Our heartfelt prayers go out to you and your family and I hope that all goes well for you all.

I just purchased my Oct 17 tickets through DVC and if you are a member you get a 10% discount. They will not mail the tickets to you but you do have to will call the tickets to prevent transferring the tickets. With buying on ebay it is your decison but buyer beware. Maybe since the seller is a DIS'er you can arrange something directly with the seller? :confused3

Thanks for the replies, kind words and for letting me vent- as you can see from my lack of posts - I am browser not a poster. SIL has a great attitude and we are all sure we will be together at Disney for one of the 2007 MNSSHP. Can't sell Disboards and would never try. Thank you all and I wish you all very happy Disney vacations!

Woodman, so sorry to hear about your sister in law  I sincerely hope things improve for her.

Please understand that it's nothing personal but Ebay is risky - I use it myself but, just lately, I've seen a few fishy auctions for MNSSHP tickets and that's what prompted me to reply to the OP. This particular auction is truthful and accurate but recent ones have claimed that the tickets are sold out - they're the kind of auctions I was commenting on. But one of the things I don't get about some auctions is the price people are willing to pay for the tickets - but, hey, that's their choice, not the seller's choice!!

I apologise for my comment about the photo - it's clear now that's it's not relevant. I hope the auction goes well, I hope your sister in law feels better soon.
