Hi,

If I purchase 60 BWV points now and later purchase 50 points somewhere else, will I be able to use all 110 points to book BWV at the 11-month window?

Thank you!

you can only use your home resort for 11 mths--so all points have to be from BWV to do that--but when and where you buy BWV doesn't matter. FYI--check 2010 points charts as weekday points will go up about 20% starting in 2010 (and weekend points have gone down).

No, points from 2 or more different DVC resorts cannot be combined for a reservation until 7 months or less before check-in date you'd want.

During months 11, 10, 9 & 8 before check-in points may only be used to book at the resort they are "tied" to ( so to speak :) )

Best wishes :goodvibes we too started small & still add, add, add some more

Once you buy a small contract via resale and become an owner, you can add on directly through Disney (when they have contracts available) for your same resort. At BWV, you can add on with as little as 25 points.

But, you can only take advantage of 11 month at BWV if all the points are for BWV.

During the "home resort booking window" (11 months to 7 months plus 1 day prior to check in), MS only accepts "home resort" points to pay for the reservation. Once you are inside the 7-month booking window, you can use any DVC points to book any DVC resort subject to availability.

Many of us who own contracts at multiple resorts use banking and borrowing to accumulate enough points to book our stay in the 11-month window. For example, with 60 BWV points you could bank your points every other year and have 120 BWV points to use in the 11-month window. You could do the same with your 50-pt add on and have 100 points to use in the alternate years.

Unfortunately DVC just reallocated points for 2010 so my 100 VWL points will no longer cover our every-other-year stay there. I used to be able to stay 6 nights in a 1BR in May for 196 points or 7 nights in a 1BR in Jan for 200 points. Both of those stays now cost over 200 points. So if you decide to adopt this strategy, consider buying more points than you will need to give yourself a buffer in case they change the point charts again in the future.
