We're preparing for our first trip to WDW ~ woo-hoo! I have heard there was a scrapstore in DTD - has anyone shopped here or just at the parks? I'm wondering if it's better budget-wise to wait and buy things there - like those adorable mickey punches and mini brads - or to buy it at local store/online.

Some great info you all have here...like I wasn't hooked on the DIS before I saw the scrapbooking forum. Like I need a way to combine my two favorite things in the world??? LOL

Their stuff isn't spectacular and the last few people who went said there wasn't a ton of stuff. You can pick up the same things in most of the parks and all of the resorts so if you were not planning on going to DTD then I wouldn't make a special trip for it.

Some of the punches I have not seen anywhere else though. Oh and if they still have them the vintage disney stickers are cool, but I wouldn't buy the paper packs if I had it to do all over again. I have yet to use anything but the stickers and those are not holding up well, discoloring and getting a greasy look to them.

So when ya goin'??? We'll be there March 5-12.

March 17-22. SO excited to go! :cool1: :cheer2: pixiedust:

Thanks for the info! I have to drive over 45 minutes to get to a scrap store:sad2: so I wanted to see if I needed to pick up any diz stuff while I was there next week. I don't plan on all my LO's being primary and cutesy, so I'll probably just pick up a few papers and some cute embellies...like the brads and some stickers before I head out that way.

Must remember to stop by and check out the punches, though! (We're doing the bippity boppity boutique for the girls...have a shopping day planned already! ) :)

If you are going to be at the Marketplace, then it is worth just popping in. I made my husband take a picture of me in front of the store.:rotfl2: The store is to the right of the RainForest Cafe.

Last year, they had some discounted packages, but none when I was there two weeks ago.

I went to the scrapbook store in downtown disney last February and it was okay. Like the others have said if your making a trip to downtown just for that store its not worth it but if your going to be in the area then pop in. I was very disappointed with the store. It was nothing what I expected. They have a small selection. Most of the items there you can find in the parks at least the items I got I was able to find in the parks also.

Before I go to WDW, I make a trip to my neighborhood craft stores (ie: Michaels, Hobby Lobby and Wal-Mart) and take mental notes of the prices and selections available. Then, I can compare those to WDW prices & selections. If I spot something at WDW I have not seen before I am more likely to purchase it, regardless of the price.

I also have shopped on several websites which have Disney scrapbooking supplies; with the added convienence of shopping and delivery at home!

i am doing the same, if i can get it back home i would rather do that. Because it too, will be my first trip there, i would rather not got to each park for stuff but go to DTD and will all the park stuff be there? ie mk stuff, epcot stuff etc... How close is the memories store to where BBB studio is? I am taking DD there and thought if the scrapbook store is near by, i would go to DTD and check it out, then i don't have to waste time looking in the parks for the stuff i can get in all in one place?:goodvibes

There is two shelves of items at the store at DTD and it was the same stuff we got at the Emporium at the MK. We did find a book of papers at AK taht was different, but eveything was pretty much the same no matter where you went. I agree with Bernard and Miss Bianca, if you aren't going to DTD, then don't make a special trip it isn't worth it. We were under the impression that the store sold nothing but scrapbooking supplies, but got a rude awakening. You would think a store called Wonderful World of Memories , well they would carry alot of scrapbooking supplies. I was also told that there were items at each resort store, but we never found any.

The items that they do have are alot different than anything you can get at your local craft store, and the prices are comparable. The items at WDW are in packages, but worth the price. We also collected napkins from different restaurants, our wrist bad from the MVMCP, our soap from the resort, confetti on our table from CRT, our Happy Anniversary buttons, and many other treasures.

It was quite disappointing, since scrapbooking is such a huge hobby right now. Maybe somebody needs to meet with the Mouse about this.

Also try mousememories.com, they have a large selection and some very unique items and papers. They get your order to you very quickly also, and I understand now you can visit them in their Orlando warehouse.

I agree, not much selection in The DTD store. I kept thinking maybe I had the wrong place. I thought I would be in there shopping for a good hour, but it only took me about 10 min. There are things available there that you won't be able to find at home, but it won't take you very long to pick them out.

I went in Oct 2005 and spent alot of money there. I got the yearly album, stickers, punches and paper packs. I used some of them but still have alot of those left. I would skip the paper packages again. I bought things that I havent seen elsewhere.

I totally agree with everyone else's statements. The one item I now wish I had purchased was the coloring books exclusive to WDW. I am working on my album and want to do some paper piecing and cannot find any WDW coloring books locally.
