I was wondering if any present DVC owners in Canada could tell me if the had to use a local law firm to close or were they able to handle the paper work themselves and send it back. We live in a non timeshare province so we are going with a resale over buying a new contract from Disney. We will save alot of traveling to an area that would allow us to sign a new contract. Any ifo would help. Thanks in adance for your help.

We bought our contract via resale and all of the paperwork was handled in Florida. Anything requiring our signature was sent to us by courier and then we returned it the same way. We couriered US bank drafts for the deposit and final payment.

I went thru the same process with my resale purchase, and I was living in Saskatchewan at the time, which is a nontime share province. You do not need a local law firm to handle the paperwork. I used the Timeshare Store, Inc.

We are in the middle of this right now.

We couriered our deposit as a bank draft and 5 days later they emailed and said the bank draft would not be accepted as it had been drawn on a "foreign bank, particularly a canadian bank" and that we must wire our deposit and the final payment even though all of the docs we signed and the instructions they sent said to send bank drafts.

Make sure to ask before you send anything.
