Hey all,

A few years ago, a family member asked if I was interested in purchasing points from them. Being an avid fan of Disney I was. It has been three years since then and I still don't have my card or deed. This family member has given me a bunch of reasons and is insistent that it will finally come to fruition this coming month. Mind you, I have already paid dues for several years to this family member. Is it possible that due to legal issues this type of transaction should take so long and should I be paying dues while I wait?

Thanks

I think it's quite obvious.

This is :stir: imo...

I think there may be another one on the member service board stating that for 2 years they haven't been able to get any room at 6+ months out. Even SSR.

:coffee:

:) I thought the SSR one was very odd and a new poster, too.

I won't make a comment on the veracity of the original post, but I would like to know about buying points from a friend.
My sister's co-worker has been a member since the beginning. Due to health reasons, they haven't used their membership in years. I've been toying with the idea of asking her if she would like to sell me her points. Would TSS do the paperwork for us?? I know it would still have to go through RFR.

There are many closing companies but you could do it yourself. The cheapest I know of is $95 plus recording fees. If your friend agrees to either a sale or to have you use the points and pay the fees, as them to add you as an associate online and/or to give you the online information. If you do arrive at an agreement to just use the points make sure you give them something in writing (email maybe) that spells out what is expected and not and if you later decide to "give it back", make sure you do in plenty of time. If they agree to a sale, make sure you put the actual terms no matter how good they are on the contract.

Thanks for the info.

As the friend of my sister, I think she would agree to sell the points to me for much less than she would agree to sell them to anyone else. Thus almost guaranteeing (sp?) Disney to exercise ROFR. Which makes just adding me as an associate on her contract a little more appealing. I forgot about that option.

She could also add you to the deed giving you DVC benefits, it might be worth it.
