I am looking to beef up my kiddos collections. DS was too little last time so he is starting from scratch. I know that fake pins are a problem and I do not want to contribute to that. Does anyone have a reputable seller they can suggest (if this isn't allowed I appologize...). Or if you can't list a seller, can you give me some tips on how to ensure I am not getting fake ones? I don't want to contribute to counterfeit pins.

We will most definitely be buying new ones at the parks but I want to add a few more as there are quite a few from our last trip that DD is keeping and not bringing with her.

Thanks!

A good place to start is Facebook groups. I've bought from a few groups/re-sellers on facebook and the average cost is $1.50/$2 a pin. All pins are on cards, or in the sealed bag.

Few suggestions

Disney Pin Trading/Selling - Group is extremely friendly and you will find some good lot prices from sellers
Booster Packs and Beyond - Re-seller I have bought from them multiple times. Get a good booster packs that you would buy in the park for half the cost. Equates to 5 pins for $9-$11 for the pack.

It's not quite ebay prices, but the pins are real.

If you are looking on ebay, I would stay away from bulk sellers, most of those are scrappers. People who sell mixed lots or mystery lots or do not have a photograph of each pin that they are selling, are mostly selling fakes. I would look for people who look like they are selling off part of private collections. They usually do not have tons of pins for sale, and the pins are usually a variety and not just hidden mickey pins. They are also usually a little more expensive (like $2 a pin), but collectors like myself thank you for not contributing to the counterfeit problem! :flower3:

The last couple of times I've bought pins on Ebay, I've bought trading sets that are still in the packages. Some of them come packaged with lanyards. They may be missing the "completer pin" but if I'm just trading, I don't care about that. That seems to be the best way to know that the pins aren't scrappers.
