Hi,

We're thinking about buying into this, but it's so confusing to figure out how it all works.

I am most interested in BCV and BWV. Is it true that I would not be able to buy these directly from Disney Vacation Club and have BCV or BWV as my home resort? If I wanted one of these as my home resort, I would have to buy from someone doing a DVC resale, right?

Also, if I bought into this with SSR as my home resort, how likely is it that I could make reservations at BWV or BCV? Is the 7-month window sufficient, or are most of the reservations taken by the "home resort" owners who can reserve 11 months out?

Thanks!!!

Sharon

In general you will get a better price from a resale but more flexibility on number of points and if you need financing from Disney...I believe Disney may again have some BWV points to sell witht the conversion of some of the display rooms to real rooms, but I have not checked on this recently. BCV you have to get by resale.

Probably not a problem for preferred view most times of the year but see below...also there is a difference in SSR in that the contract with SSR lasts longer--49-50 years instead of 38...

For most times of the year you can get either BCV or BWV preferred...BWV standard rooms with their lower points are scarcer and in demand and harder to come by year round...also the first 2 weeks of December, the fall Food and wine festival time and peak holiday times may be hard to get at BWV or BCV at 7 months..

Most people say--buy where you plan to stay the most...
Summary of some key differences-
SSR-longer contract--only avail thru Disney
BCV-exclusive DVC able to use the SAB pool-no Grand Villas at this resort-only avail as a resale
BWV-standard view points lower (close to OKW rates)-available as resale and maybe thru Disney also???

Hi,

We just closed and made reservations on Thursday. We were able to get Beach club for the end of August. Our home resort is Boardwalk. I would definitely buy where you want to stay. If you would rather the extra years then Saratoga is the way to go. There are several resale sites recommended by this board. Good luck.

Yes, that is correct.

It really depends on what time of the year you want to travel. Some times of the year would not be a problem and others will be virtually impossible. It will be very difficult to book a standard view or a Boardwalk view room at BWV any time of the year if you do not have BWV as your home resort.

The more difficult times to book BCV or BWV at the 7 month window include the two weeks surrounding Easter, President's week, all of December and the October & November weeks during the Food & Wine Festival.

January, May and September are the easiest times to book at the 7 month window.

Best wishes and good luck with your decision making.

I seem to remember someone who was very knowledgable on this board (I just cannot remember who it was, maybe they will read this and re-post), saying that DVC actually sold the BWV sales center locations a year ago. I would be VERY interested in purchasing an add-on if they actually are available now.

Hmmmmm!!! Maybe I hear an add-on calling my name!!!!

Beca; You are correct. The BWV sales center rooms have already been sold. As a matter of fact, we did a 150 point add-on when they went on sale last year. I don't think many of the points ever made it to the general public. Most went to current BWV owners, then DVC owners. They went quickly.

HBC...thanks for posting!!! I should've known that "knowledgable" person was you!!!!!!!!

My best advice is buy where you want to stay.

If DVC discontinued being able to stay at other DVC resorts - would you be happy enough staying at SSR?

Definitely buy where you want to stay...you may have difficulties getting into BWV for a standard room or a boardwalk view outside of the 11 month window. We tried to change a ressie to BCV after the 7 month window and no studios available at all for the time we wanted (Oct). You may not have a problem getting a ressie where you want, but you may have difficulty getting the configuration you want.

Good luck with your decision!
