If looking for 50 points I would go with direct even at ssr. 50 ssr Direct is going to cost $7250 plus about $200 closing fees. If you purchase a use year after the current month you will also get 2016 points no maintenance fees. Current use year is prorated so also less $.
If and it's a really big if because I haven't seen any fully loaded 50 point contracts at ssr available lately, you find one, you will pay a premium on secondary market And you will pay higher closing fees (around $400 minimum) for an at best around $2500 savings. More realistic savings of around 1k if it's stripped and sells for anything over $90 pp. I'd rather purchase direct. Use a credit card with mileage accrual for free flight or something and purchase a family of four gold ap for another $800 savings and direct sounds like a better deal.
75 or more points at AKV or ssr and resale seems to pencil out better.
