Buying MagicBand online?

Hi all,

I was looking into buying a special edition Ariel MagicBand (still in box) online for my sister as a surprise gift for our upcoming trip. Before I take the plunge and spend the money, has anyone done this before? If not, I imagine it would be easy to just link this band to our park tickets and reservations when at the park or with the hotel concierge. Is that correct?

Apologies if this has been discussed before - I did search and didn't find anything!

If it's unopened, you will have absolutely no problem activating it in your MDE You're better off doing it yourself at home, and then just confirming that it's linked when you arrive.

It takes about 30 seconds to link it yourself. It's easy.

It acts as a link to your disney account for room entry, park entry, FP+ for attractions & rides and to your Dining Plan credits for meals & snacks. You can choose to register your credit card with your account & then can use your band to make charges to your account. It acts as a super sized key to the world card plus plus. People also enjoy customizing their bands with bandits (like the ones kids used to buy for their croc sandals) or decals they buy online.

The only ones that need to be linked are the party ones that you can only buy at the event.

Thank you very much for this helpful information. Planning a 2016 trip with my young nieces, they'd love the bandits. Hope they'll still be around next year.
