Buying Magic Band At Disney Springs

We are going to WDW this december but staying of site.
We've stayed one night at AS Movies last march but our son was not with us so we have one magic band ''missing''

For our upcoming off site trip I would like for him to have a magic band like all of us.

So, I know I can buy one at Disney Springs or at theme park, in that case no way he can have is name inside right? And if you go to Disney Spring to buy the MB can we just link it when we are back at the rental house to use it the next day???

When you purchase a MB the name won't be inside but his name will be linked to the MK via MDE.

You can purchase a band at Disney Springs and if he has his park ticket they can link it for you, otherwise ask them for the "link it later" option and link it yourself via MDE when you can.

You could also purchase the band ahead of time via Disney store and link it when it arrives via MDE using the number on the MB - its very easy! This way your set ahead of time.

Finally - if he doesn't want/need a mb the park ticket will do everything the MB does when staying offsite.

If you live outside the US you can't purchase one from the Disney Store or Amazon (if they're sold by Amazon or Disney) because they won't ship them outside the US

Finally - if he doesn't want/need a mb the park ticket will do everything the MB does when staying offsite.

Just to clarify, a park ticket will not function with any of the features that require the long range RFID that is only in the Magic Bands. This includes automatically loading ride photos/videos to Photopass or Memory Maker and the new "Story Maker" personalized messages. Having one person in the party with a Magic Band is enough to get the photos loaded (and remember there are no tap points for photos on 7DMT).

Story Maker is the new system that will read your band to show you a special message, like "Good Bye, *your name*" on iasw or the new Hitchhiking Ghosts on HM. I am not sure how these work with multiple bands in a party.
