I perused through the threads and couldn't find an answer to this, maybe there are a few others out there in a similar situation. My Dad works for the federal government (up in DC) and when I turned 22 (23 in May) I was cut from the family insurance plan (underwritten in the contract). Since then, I've been on one of my employer's health plans, however, when I come down for the CP, they will cut me as well since I will no longer be under their employ.

Has anyone had experience in purchasing a health plan while they were down in Orlando? In this day and age, health insurance is just something you don't want to not have

If your dad works for the federal government, there are plans available to you for purchase. There are certain ones you can be eligible for, that may not be entirely too expensive. There are seperate plans, but they are given to you under your dad. One such plan is called Mail Handlers. It is mostly for Postal Workers, but it is available to anyone in the federal government. :)

After lengthy phone calls, I cannot get back on the plan for at least another year. HOWEVER, I did find something interesting online:

www.ehealthinsurance.com

Male, 23, non-smoker, full-time college student can get a decent plan for as low as $57/month if using Orlando as a base (need to in order to find in-plan providers)

the site is very easy to use, recommend checking it out if you aren't able to get on a parent's health insurance plan
