Ok I called Disney but my "rep" is not in until Monday. I did find out that the points are currently $75 with no closing fees. What are the steps Disney uses to buy, I mean how quickly does it happen? With re-sales it takes some time for title searches, etc., so I'm wondering what time element is involved with Disney (this is an add on) and what type of deposit they look for (20 percent, 40 percent, etc.). We are not financing and are planning on paying cash.

If you are paying cash, the process should be quite fast. They will ask for 10-20% for financed purchases- they'll just ask for the payment in full if you're not financing.

As soon as they've started the paperwork, you can begin using the points- unlike a resale where you have to wait until after closing and the deed is recorded. It should be a pretty quick process.

We've done this with add-ons and had all the papers signed and completed while we waited at the DVC office- total time was less than an hour. Obviously, if you'll be doing it thru the mail- there will be a slight delay to allow for receipt and delivery of the documents, but still a fast process.

Enjoy!

1DISNEY, we've done 3 add-ons by mail with DISNEY quite effortlessly. I personally wouldn't fool around with resales for small add-ons; it's not worth the hassle. As I recall, we paid in full with our AMEX card ( to get freq. flyer miles) when we returned the packet; I don't recall sending in a deposit.

We bought from Disney in 1994 and the process took about 4 weeks. We bought a resale in 1999 and it took a few days less than 4 weeks from offer to closing. Both were painless however the resale was far less painless because we save some serious money.

Good luck
