I have read that this can be done and the charge for the bun is minimal (80 cents or something like that). Has anyone actually done it and is it easy? It seems like a good way to keep costs down especially since DH and I usually split fries anyways. Thanks!

We did it on our trip in March 06, and plan to do it again in June! I don't remember how much the bun was, but it was a great money saver for us, and better for the waist-line, too!

Me and my mom split our burgers a lot but instead of the double bun we just simply but it in half.

Worked out good for us, since we don't like a bunch of bread.

THE PRICE VARIES at different restaurants!!!!!

A couple/few months ago, there was a post from a VERY irate Guest because they'd been charged slightly under $2 for the extra bun.

We have done this in the past and it was very easy. Just tell the person entering the order and they know what to do.

We did this at Peco Bills & they did'nt charge us, When our food arrived they actually gave us a plain burger in the bun. I did tell them & offered to pay for the extra (we had ddp) but they said it was okay. We also did this at BB & I think we paid a Dollar. To us it would be worth $2 as my ds & I could'nt manage a whole 1 each.

I just wanted to add that you don't have to order a basket that includes fries. You can order a single burger or hot dog or whatever. Another way to cut down on costs and save food from being thrown out. I never order a basket since my husband and I will share if he gets fries. Otherwise, we both just get the sandwich.
