Can you buy Express passes without buying tickets at the same time online?

I was able to purchase Express Pass for HHN without any trouble. I had purchased the BOGO tickets when they were offered a while ago and wanted to wait and see if the nights I had planned on attending were going to be busy (they will be). I could only afford Express Pass for one of the two days I’ll be going unfortunately, but the checkout process was easy. I only had to select the date I wanted Express Pass for. I’d think the process for regular Express Pass would be the same.
