buying dvc

seriously thinking about buying into the dvc but have worrys about what will happen in the future re the following with out DS as it would be a nightmare of us to get him to London.

does anybody know what is the proceedure is when you have a severe disability and live miles away from London when the machine readable passports run out and we have to get a visa.

Sorry, I don't know what the procedure would be. This would be a huge problem for everyone living any distance from London, but obviously it will be compounded for people with disabilities and / or mobility problems.

I would hope there'd be some provision to enable disabled people to obtain a visa without a long trip to London, but maybe the passport office would take the view that anyone able to travel far enough to need a visa should be able to travel to get the visa Is there any info on the passport office website?

I've just had a look on the UK Passport web site:

http://www.passport.gov.uk/news/news.asp?strAreaNo=320&intelement=808

and it looks like the Biometric passports will be available from the end of the year.

These new passports will allow people to continue to travel under the Visa waiver scheme, so you won't need to travel down to London to obtain a visa.
