Buying Disney Costumes WAY WAY ahead of time.

So I am wanting to buy my kids princess dresses for their first trip to MK (and CRT). I have no clue how much they will grow in 4.5 months (we do not go to October, and they are all between 2 and 7.) Am I crazy to just take a guess at how big they will be by then and get dresses now? (they cannot try them on since they are for a surprise. Also, I don't want to wait to long since I know around Halloween disney.com starts to sell out...and they are on sale today. )Any advice?...I over think everything lol.

I've been sewing my daughter's costumes for our December trip - I'm hoping she grows enough to fill them out over the next 6.5 months, but If not, I'm taking safety pins to snug up a few spots.
Sewing sizes run different from rack-clothing sizes, usually bigger. While she is wearing some 4t and some 5t rack clothing, a "3" sewn dress fits perfectly right now. I've cut all her costumes in a "4," and she's been trying them on - sleeves are too long, bodices are slightly loose, but not tooooo far off.
I'd recommend getting clothing in one size too large for the littler kids, but the current size for the bigger kids - unless they're already about to outgrow what they're in. Things can always be pinned/tucked in, but not let out easily.

I'd attempt buying them at this point. Worse comes to worse the only one you wouldn't get some wear out of would be the smallest if it's too small. The others could all be grown into by the younger child.

Thanks! I wish I sewed! I did order up a size for the littlest one...the older ones are tricky when they sell dresses in 5/6 and 7/8...and they are in size 5 and 6 but are built totally different... and one daughter is super skinny and may drown in the bigger size and the smaller size may be short (but hopefully not tight in the arms since she is a stick :) ....I plan on trying to compare the dresses to outfits they already own when they arrive. I just hate spending money not knowing if it will work out or not!

I've guessed. She grows into it at some point! I will say there are some that hang a bit big on her (she is tall and very skinny) but it's not horrible.

I just went ahead and ordered them...found a coupon code online and had free shipping bringing the Disney store dresses down to between $20-$25 a piece! I figure that's a pretty good deal ;) I will keep my fingers crossed they look like the right size when they arrive...

That's a great deal! Less expensive than cheapie Halloween costumes at Halloween time. Good going!

I found the sizes are true to age, a 3t will fit a 3 year old, a 4t will fit a 4 year old, and so on. The lowest I've ever seen the dresses go is $15, and those sales don't last very long. Don't remove the tags when you try them on your kids, you may be able to exchange them at the store when you get there for a different size if they don't fit properly, though I think it's a 30 day window. They will let you ship it back and exchange it for a different size, but you have to pay the shipping.

We are not going for over 100 days so I cannot try them on my girls in the 30 day window...just compare them to other clothes they already own! We are surprising them with the dresses once we arrive at Disney to wear to the CRT breakfast I snagged! Also..the dresses I got for the oldest two only came in 5/6 or 7/8 making it harder to get a proper fit idea.

My daughter has been wearing the same size 7 Rapunzel dress for over 3 years. I shortened the straps a little and have finally let them back out. The dressers really last.
