Is she thinking of WDW & Florida or California VDH? In CA I believe that a married person must basically have their spouse sign a quit claim deed to hold title to real property as their sole & separate property. If that’s still true in CA (it was when I bought a house years ago) yes your sister can hold title w/out her spouse on the deed, but her husband may have to sign a document https://www.clta.org/page/Consumer3/Understanding-Common-Way-of-Holding-Title.htm.
So they don’t need to sign off or anything? I was under the impression that you had to involve your spouse. Well, this definitely changes things. Haha!!

It doesn't sound like it would be an issue in this scenario, but one thing to keep in mind is that only the member on the deed actually gets the blue card status (if buying direct as you noted in this case). So the spouse would not be able to get their own membership "card" in the future and cannot simply be added to the contract at a later date.

I think it might have to do with the state they live in. Wisconsin, where I live, is a marital property state. My spouse would have to sign off on any property I want to buy alone.

This is true. We have 2 contracts and I am the sole on both. But now that my wife is travelling without me,,she gets no discounts on food or shopping. So we are in the middle of adding her. Depending on where you live, she owns half anyway, so might as well have her on. Our mistake.

Correct,,,,There is a great thread on how to add or take off. |But it is still approx $100 doing it yourself. There are many companies out there that would charge between $300-500 to do it.
Cheaper at the start when you buy....lol....$0
My wife is not on the contracts because she wasn’t in my first resale contract and when I added direct it was easier to keep everything the same.
Now that we have more points/contracts she might start traveling by herself with her sister and nephews, so I’m in the process to add her to the contracts. It’s not an expensive process if yo do it yourself, but it’s time consuming.
If I had the opportunity to do everything again, I’d have added her since the beginning.
