Hello everybody, I would like to know where can I buy bottled water and snacks or fruit outside parks at disneyworld, but inside the disney property, we don´t have a car, so the disney buses are the only transportation we have.

I read something about Gess Gas Station, The buses could take me there or near?
Is there another way to get fresh fruit or water, like a Wallgreen or something like that?

Thanks

There is a Hess Gas Station across the street from DTD that people use. I have never been inside of it to know what they have, I have only gotten gas there. I would think it would be quite a haul to buy much stuff and walk across the street to get on the bus to go back to the hotel, but people do it.

I think a grocery order that you had delivered would be much easier. There are many places that offer the service. There is a charge, but its cheaper than a car rental would be.

It's Hess and there are two stations where you can purchase water and other convenience store-type stuff close to Disney property. One is near Downtown Disney and the other is near the Swan/Dolphin. Neither is directly serviced by Disney transportation. There are no Walgreens, chain grocery stores or other convenience stores on property.

You might consider taking a cab to a grocery store to get those items. It should cost around $15-$20 one-way. Or you could use a service like WeGoShop or Garden Grocer. They will grocery shop for you and deliver your order to your Disney resort for a fee.

You could also waste precious vacation time traveling to one of the Hess stations and lugging the water and whatnot back to your resort yourself. Keep in mind that there is no direct Disney transportation between resorts, so unless you're staying at the YC/BC, BWI or S/D, the Hess in DtD is your better choice.

That being said, think carefully about how much you will spend on a case of water and some fresh fruit. Add in the cost of grocery delivery or a cab. Then calculate how much you'll actually spend on those items vs. just buying exactly what you need but paying Disney's inflated prices for them. Sometimes, you have to weigh cost vs. convenience. Your vacation time has value and you may not want to waste half of a day (and the muscles) to get a case of water and a few bananas.

Hi, thanks for the answers. I don´t want to go outside disney to buy some water or chips, if there is a simple way to go I will take it, but no taxi at all.

i totally agree with you that at disney time=money.

do you know how far is the hess at downtown disney? How much walking?

Thanks

The Hess is located at A. It is across the parking lot and the highway from Downtown Disney. The large blue circle to the right of center on the photo is Planet Hollywood. One of the bus stops for resort buses is located to the right of PH and splits the two parking lots. There is a crosswalk for pedestrians who wish to traverse the highway.

ETA: You can find a pictorial walking tour of DtD to the Hess station on easywdw.com thru this link:
http://www.easywdw.com/uncategorize...ridemakerz-search-for-pascal-october-21-2011/
It begins about halfway down the page. Or you can <ctrl> f and type hess into the "find" box to locate the beginning of the tour. It will be at the 3rd occurrence of the word 'Hess'.

Last trip we brought our stainless steel water bottles with us. Last trip we had a car, so we went to the store and bought a 2.5 gallon water container. This time, we won't have the car, so we will just buy gallon sized waters at my resort.

Better for the environment, better for the wallet, better use of time.

I suggest buying a case of bottled water at the resort. It is not worth it to go to the Hess at DTD or across from BWV.

It depends on where you are staying whether a trip to the Hess station would be worth it for you. The Animal Kingdom, and Magic Kingdom resorts are a bit of a drive to Hess.
If I were you I would take the bus from your resort to DTD, walk across and get whatever you need at Hess then call a cab to take you back to your resort. It can't be more than $5 or $6 to bring you back to your resort.
I personally would have no problem lugging the case of water from Hess to the bus stop, it is not that far, you will do alot more walking in the parks.
The DTD bus runs till 2 or 3 am so you can do your run after the parks if you are a night owl. I don't remember if there is a bus that goes directly from the parks to DTD, maybe someone else knows, I always rent a car at Disney because I hate the busses, and I like to go to the outlets and a day at the beach when in FL.
And if you do take the taxi you can pick up a pizza at Hess and bring it back to the resort for a late night meal. The Hess pizzas are really good and they have loads of different toppings. Or maybe wings...

I have read before the suggestion that you empty a piece of wheeled luggage and take it to Hess's. Buy what you need and load it into the luggage. Roll it back to the bus stop.

If you just want a few things, it might make sense to ship it to your hotel. We do it every trip. Staples.com will ship a case of water for free with their rewards card. Soap.com and amazon.com are great places to pick up a few things, too.

A cab from BWV to DtD cost me $20 with tip last summer. That was a one-way trip. There's no way that it would cost only $5-$6 unless you're traveling to SSR from DtD.

There are no regular park-to-DtD buses. Disney is running an experimental AK-to-DtD bus right now but they say it is only to determine if there is a demand for it.

And while you might walk more in the parks than you would doing a water run to Hess, you're not lugging 25 lbs. of extra weight with you in the parks unless you have a toddler strapped to you!

I'm not sure of the quantities of water and such OP wishes to buy, but for a few items, Hess is fine. We were at DTD one evening and stopped there for a few things before catching the bus back to POP. I think we saved $.25 on each piece of fruit we bought. They have snacks, but not a great selection. What we normally do is catch the Lynx bus to Publix and stock up on our needs, but it sounds like OP could be short of time and doesn't wish to leave the property. If they are near Boardwalk, they could go to that Hess station as well. Also resorts such as Fort Wilderness have a selection of groceries too, but there again, you will pay disney prices.

Just a little off topic, instead of buying a few slices of bread at the food court in Pop, I just went to the section of the food court where they sell pizza, and asked for a loaf of bread. They had white or brown (wheat) bread for choices. It was $.10 more than what Walmart charged for a loaf of bread. I thought it was a pretty good buy.

We bring our own bottled water, snacks, apples, bfast items in duffle bag. We pack our waters in lg qt zip lock bags and divide it between 4 bags. We pack an extra duffle bag with all of our other stuff. When we leave we have the extra duffle for extra things to bring home. Simple.

Does anyone know if the construction at DTD would make walking to Hess any more difficult? I plan to walk over there on Jan 9th when I arrive.

Best of my knowledge, no luggage is allowed on the buses.

It is so not worth it to us to waste 1/2 day getting to and from Hess to buy a few groceries. You can pack a lot of stuff in your checked luggage. Use zip lock bags or plastic storage containers. You can bring reusable bottles and buy a gallon of water in the resort gift shop. In the parks, get free cups of filtered ice water to refill. Share food form bought meals in the parks to stretch your food budget.

I personally have ordered a case of water from Costco and had it shipped to resort. I think I paid 5.00 ish for it. Fresh fruit I'd just pack in my luggage or buy at resort.

The gift shop in your resort should sell cases of water and snacks like boxes of donuts, big bags of chips, cookies etc. At Music this past August they were selling cases of water ( I think 18 or 24 bottles not sure) for under $20.00
Definitely not cheap but much better than buying each bottle for $2.50!
Don't forget filtered ice water is free at Disney restaurants.
