Buying AP + tickets at gate

Can someone review if my thinking is correct. We'll be arriving at US mid to late morning. We have a APH reservation for 2 nights at RPR. I can buy the Preferred AP at the gate and then get 4 more 3-day 2-park tickets for 15% off. Then we can check in at RPR and get our Express Pass. (Is this coded to a key card like at WDW resorts?)

I'm calculating that at 15% off with the AP, the 4 3-day/2-park tickets are just about the same price as buying from Undercover Tourist. I haven't seen anywhere that discounts the AP to buy ahead of time.

Yes that is correct. Although I think you can check into RPR without the AP. You will just have to take it by the desk at some point during your time there and let me note it on your ressie. Yes...the room key is the FOTL access. You just go up to a ride, show your key and you are in!

I think the price looks the same, but UT's includes tax and Universal's doesn't -- so you'll pay that difference by buying at the gate.
