I love Orlando and really want to buy a villa over here.

We come once or twice a year and stay a month in total.

We cant afford to buy one without renting it out so my questions are what are peoples experiences with it.

I know we wont make money but do you manage to rent your villa out for most of the year? What kind of occupancy rate do you have.

Which community is your villa in and what made you choose there?

I'm compiling costs at the moment!!

Thank you in advance :0) xx

As an owner of a villa for the last 15 years My advice is ...... FORGET THE IDEA .

Do we make money .. NO

Do we let it out ............ YES

Do we obtain good Rates ..... NO.

Thank you! How come you have continued for so long? Is the resale market really bad? xx

Maybe ask on the dibb? They have a big villa rental section on there and lots of UK villa owners.

Just come across your post on the dibb! Good luck whatever you decide

Hi there,

We were thinking of purchasing in Orlando, until we started to stay on the gulf coast, and really enjoyed our time there. We decided the market in Orlando was going to prove difficult to obtain regular rentals.

We purchased a villa in a place called Rotonda, around 30 minutes south of Sarasota, and have found that we have obtained rentals for most of the year. Snowbirds come down for the winter, and rent at least a month at a time. There also tends to be less wear and tear on the villa as the people renting are generally retirement age.

I suppose what I'm saying is think about other locations as well, and while making a profit may not be possible, it is certainly feasible that you can cover your costs, which should make you money in the long term. Please message me if you require any other information. Good luck whatever you decide!

Buying a villa to rent out to make a profit or even make even is very hard right now,
Some villa owners are having to rent through brokers who pay very poorly.
Its something that needs a lot of research and thought,
Plus if you can't afford the first years fee's out of pocket without renting I would say don't do it.
