Election Day dawned bright and sunny with the promise of way above average temperatures later in the day. For me, I was off to MGM… By Car! This would be my first solo trip.

After consulting the map, I determined that I’d have to be a blithering idiot to get lost going from the ASMusic to MGM. It was EE so I left the hotel around 7:45 a.m. The trip was short and just the way it appeared on the map.

My first stop was the ToT. Heaven! Before I went on I grabbed a FP so I could ride again before I left. MGM was quite crowded and this would only be a 2-hour visit as we would be heading back to see the house again around 11. Waa! Don’t ya just hate when real life gets in the way of your Disney fun?

After ToT ride #1, I headed over to the GMR. This was closed for rehab when I was here in May of ’03. I was seated in the front row of the car. Next to me were 2 ladies (friends). One had been to WDW 40 times and for the other, it was her first visit. Because of the wait at the GMR (I was in line close to 30 minutes), I had just enough time to use my FP at the ToT and then it was back to the hotel. Even after making a mental note of where I parked, I still spent 10 minutes looking for the car. It’s called auto amnesia. Thank goodnes I wrote down the license plate number!

I got back to the hotel and called the realtor. He had called while I was out and told my husband that the town was going to try and get the water turned on before tomorrow’s inspection. We were concerned that if there was a faucet on that could lead to some unpleasant problems in an unoccupied house. He agreed to give us the combination to the lock box so we could get inside and check everything out.

In my never-ending search for alternate routes, I decided to go to Auburndale on Rte. 27 all the way. This time I was able to find 192 and then got on 27. While the speeds were much more to my liking, the travel time was not. It took nearly an hour to get there. Once we got into the house, I did my own little inspection. The only problems I could find were both of the drain plugs in the bathroom tubs are broken and one of the burners on the stove doesn’t work. We’ll see how good the inspector is tomorrow and if he finds those too.

After taking about 50 more pictures, we headed into town to try and find some sort of city run information place. I decided to pull into the parking lot of a building to check the map. When I looked at the building it said Auburndale Chamber of Commerce. I had stopped at the very place I needed to be. This trip really has been magical!

Inside I talked to a very nice young woman who gave me tons of Auburndale and surrounding towns information plus a nice fabric bag imprinted with the town name to store it all in. She told me to come back for help anytime.

We decided to head back to the hotel and this time I went I-4 all the way. From Auburndale to the hotel was 35 minutes.

I was wiped out so I set the alarm for an hour’s nap and went out like a light. TWO hours later I woke up. I slept right through the music alarm. Next stop was EPCOT.

The park was moderately crowded. I checked out the food and wine exhibits. There’s food from many countries plus beverages. It looked yummy and I was sorry I didn’t have more time to enjoy it all. Oh well, there’s always next year.

I watched one of the shows at the American Pavilion. Performing was a country and western singer named Blake Shelton who was excellent. Then I went on Impression de France. I just love the music with that movie.

By now it was nearly time for RoE so I waited near Canada. Magnificent as always but I was down wind so it was also a bit smoky. The it was time to head out with the throng and I was back at the hotel at 10:10.

We watched the election results and then it was lights out at 11 p.m.

High Point – Getting back into the house.

Low Point – How hot it got in the afternoon.

Weird Point – The girl in front of me at the GMR who didn’t know who FDR was.
Finding the Auburndale Chamber of Commerce by chance.

Best Point – Riding the ToT!
