Buying 25 points direct with a September use year might mean a wait of sorts

If I were to buy in direct for 25 points early next year I would go with either Hilton Head or Vero Beach. But I'm sure they would just have to put me on a waiting list for the points. With a September use year needed, it could be a while. Both of those resorts have a low percentage of September use years and I am wondering if there might be an uptick in request for Vero Beach with the price decrease. Anyone ever assume it would take a while, then somehow magically your guide obtains the points you wanted?
