Buy resale and early dues payments via title company

There was some debate a few weeks back about title companies paying dues for you when you close. I closed two weeks ago and just got my membership login. I had sent an extra $100 with my wire to cover any incidentals (their wire fee, any miscalculation of fees on the title companies part, etc) and asked the title company to send any extra to disney for dues. I just logged in to my DVC and I have a $75 credit on my account, so the title company had no trouble sending the extra funds to Disney.

With some closings, DVC requires that the dues be paid via the closing. I would not have provided extra funds to the escrow company, just another thing that might go wrong.

In the other thread people were saying it could not be done. That disney wouldn't accept the funds early because they hadn't determined the dues for next year or something. I had no problem.

Probably depends on the amount. If you mail Disney a check, I bet they're going to cash it. If the check might be a few cents more than you'll owe in the near term, they're not going to want to mail you a refund, so they probably won't accept it.

I'm not aware of anyone saying it was impossible.

I had TT&M estimate my dues and they sent the payment to Disney and the extra back to me. Unfortunately that payment seems to have been .01 short so now I need to log in and pay my .01.

Oddly enough, yes. I also closed on another property and that title company didn't ask for dues. Disney wouldn't proceed with my membership until the dues were paid. I had the representative pay the .01 out of my gift card balance. She wasn't sure that it would go through but it did for a gift card.

I closed on 12 Dec. When I looked at my account online I had a credit of $483. I called member services to see if this was a mistake and they told me that the title company had overcharged me and they (Disney) were going to use the credit towards 2017 MF.
