Are the princess dresses more expensive to buy in WDW? My sister has dd's who are 3 and 5 and we have reservations at BBB and we want to know if we should just let the girls pick out their dresses before our reservation in WDW or should we go to the Disney store at home and buy them before we leave?

Our Zehrs (Loblaws type grocery store) has them for $26. They aren't as nice as the Disney ones but at $60 they are comparable.

I'd buy them at home. I believe they are more expensive in the park. Plus, if you are still fortunate enough to have a Disney Store left, they go on sale.

Have fun - the girls are perfect ages for that. They will love BBB.

Check Wal-Mart! My sister picked up a really nice Tinkerbell dress for her daugher's birthday. It looked better than the Halloween Costumes but not quite as nice as the Disney Store.

The best thing about the Wal-Mart ones are they were $25 and they didn't have anything to make the child itchy (at least I couldn't find anything on the Tinkerbell one).

The Disney Park dresses are at least $60 and then go up.

Buy them before you leave if you can. The ones at the parks are NICE, but expensive! There is a BBB package for $55 if you have your own dress...you can get hair, nails and makup for that price. If you have to buy their dress the prive is over $15O. You might even look on ebay.....Ive had good luck there if a Disney store is not close to you. At the ages of 3 and 5 you could go for the $20 ones at walmart and/ or target...they are less itchy than the super fancy ones at WDW that cost $60(+). have fun!!! princess:

One more quick comment.....when we went to BBB recently, I did not want my DD to be disappointed that she did not get to choose a dress at BBB. So , I kept her dress as a surprise until we got dressesdto leave for BBB that morning. I packed a "Princess" gift bag and let her open it at brekfast...it made it more special to her that way I think (and save Mommy some $$$) :goodvibes

My daughter had a BBB appointment last May and we bought her dress here in NS (at disneystore) and took with us. It was a real savings. I did buy her one of the neat wands they there had though, but she wanted a Tink wand with her Cindy dress. :)

I think you'd be better off buying them here. Disney seems to be overpriced at times and then if the dollar rises and it ends up costing you more in the long run there, its better off buying them here. Not sure where you are located but Dartmouth has a Disney Store.

I would but one before you go, since I think it would be a lot cheaper, expecially since you have to buy two. The ones they have at walmart now seem a better quality that the ones I have seen there in the past. You coul dgo to the disney store but I would think they would still be a little pricey. I have not been to a dinsey store in years since ours closed. :sad1:

If you can't find a good deal at your local Disney store or Walmart, you can try ebay and have it delivered to your hotel.

If you have time, you can also try Orlando Walmart stores they sell a lot of Disney stuff. :)

Remember that any disneystore in canada can ship items to you, so even if you dont live near a disneystore, if they have the item they can ship it to you.
We were looking at them last night as they have lots right now. Belle's costume was 49.00..

Thank you all for the great advice. I went to our Disney store today to check the prices and most were around $49.00. Also, when I was in the store the salesclerk reminded me that if we wait until we go to WDW not only will the dresses be more expensive but they might not have the sizes that we're looking for when the girls are picking out their dresses. I will also let my sister know about checking out Walmart -(my girls never liked the itchy dresses).

Thanks again for all the great info!:thumbsup2

Here, for sure! They're $65+ at the parks. The $65 versions aren't much nicer than the Walmart ones.

When we went, I got dd a princess dress at the Super Walmart on SR535 for $29.99. It was a fair bit nicer than the ones at Walmart here (dark pink velvet Sleeping Beauty). That was a few years ago so I'm not sure if they still have those.

We buy them at the Disney store and bring them with us. It's cheaper to do it that way and also they wear them first so I know any of the itch issues and can try and problem solve ahead of time.

I was at Winners today and they had all the princess dresses for $16.99...they were decent looking too. :)
