If I buy a 200 point contract from say the TSS for SSR at $88/pt vs $94/point from DVC after incentives, what's the diff? Would the closing costs via resale cancel out the savings verses buying from DVC? Does Disney give you anything extra/different if you buy directly from them?

Here is a summary of my transaction through GMAC which charges a $195 Admin Fee that some of the other resale companies do not charge:

Here are the details of our transaction. We went resale to save about $1100.00. The extra 6 weeks waiting was not consequential to us. The banked point amount on the resale was equal to the current use year points Disney was giving us to use or bank for 06. Every dollar in my pocket and not disney's or another seller is a win :dogdance:

.........................Resale.............Disney direct

Per Pt.............84.375................94
Cost of Pts......$13,500.00.........$15,040.00
Closing............$475.00.............$325.00
Admin Fee .......$195.00.............$0.00
07 MF's............$659.20.............$549.33 (would pay 10 mo prorated)
TTL cst/pt .......$92.68..............$99.46

Savings: $6.78 per/pt X 160 = $1,084.80:banana:

Extra Pts:.......160 banked '06.......Cur Yr '06 160
..............................Sep UY.................Oct UY

Disney gives you nothing extra that I am aware of except a much quicker closing process. So you basically have to choose between paying a little more or getting in quicker. Here is a link to a recent thread which I quoted from above.

Well, Disney does give you a tote bag that says DVC on it...
Yes, but if Tom's designer Publix bag offer is still in effect, that offsets.

Seriously, the advantages of direct are the quickness and certainty of the transaction. You can make ressies right away, instead of 4-8 weeks, and you know the deal will go through because you don't have ROFR to worry about.

If you're not in a hurry, and you're comfortable that your price will pass ROFR, then you'll save money with resale. AFIK, TTS does not charge an extra $195 fee (what's that for, anyway? Administrative? What administrative?).

If you are financing, the financing through Disney may be a little less expensive. I don't keep up with that, so you'd have to compare and see.

We have bought both resale through TTS and direct. The service we got from TTS was somewhat better than we got from our guide, and the TTS people we dealt with were more knowledgeable than our guide.
