Is there any difference? Do you still get all the DVC membership "perks" (for lack of a better word)? Also, are all contracts good until 2042? I found one for Wilderness Lodge, 371 points for $64 pr point. I've never stayed at Wilderness lodge, what are the villas like? Ok and one more question....what is the difference between studios and regular disney hotel rooms?
Thanks in Advance!!
Hi ilovefh, I will give your Q's a shot:
Once a resale deal has closed, there is no difference between a contract bought resale or through Disney. All the perks will be exactly the same.
There are many members here who have saved money on resales, and can give more details than I can. I will try to cover the preliminaries- At $84/pt your price would be $71.40/pt. A resale at $64/pt may have closing costs in addition to the point price. You should also take into account any points available for that use year, including banked or borrowed points. Once you take all that into consideration, and add in the hassle factor, the resale price may be pretty close to your discounted rate. Remember that when DVC prices go up, resales have the potential to go up as well. If the resale price is too low, DVC will exercise their right of first refusal, and buy the contract back.
That being said, I have not bought a resale contract, but there are many here who have and saved a great deal.
Currently all contracts expire January 31, 2042, regardless if they are resale or purchased through Disney.
I absolutely love The Villas at Wilderness Lodge (VWL). It is my favorite, as I find them beautifully themed down to every detail. Other members prefer the locations near Epcot, and some like Old Kew West, so it is all personal preference.
A studio will have a kitchenette, and at some of the resorts may have a pull out sofa instead of a second bed. It is my opinion that the studio interiors are much nicer than a hotel room interior.
The inside of VWL is awesome (in my opinion). If you like a more rustic look accented with wood and robust color, this is the place for you!
Everyone has their favorite, and with good reason...they are all top notch resorts.
Keep us informed, and don't be afraid to ask more questions.
Good Luck!
