Hello! We are leaving on Saturday to visit my husband's father in Tampa. He is sick with brain cancer and things aren't looking good so we are throwing together a last minute trip. We have booked a cheap hotel in Orlando for Monday and Tuesday night and plan on taking DD6princess: and DS3pirate: to Magic Kingdom all day Tuesday for a fun getaway in the middle of what is going to be a rough visit.

So, my dilemma is that we wanted to arrive early to MK Tuesday to be there for the opening but we have not purchased tickets yet. Is this going to mess us up? Should we order them online and pick them up at will call or just buy them at the gate? If there is no difference, we would very much prefer to buy at the gate.

Thanks so much, the people on these boards are great!! Can't wait to obsess with you all next year when we plan a real trip to Disneyworld!

Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think you save any money by purchasing tickets ahead of time. Even before the park opens, I think you can buy tickets. Then just get in line and wait to enter. Have a fun day and I'm sorry to hear about your father-in-law.

Thanks a bunch for answering, that's what I was hoping to hear! This trip is definitely going to be bittersweet but we are looking forward to some Disney Magic and maybe even a little Pixie Dust!!

As far as I know that is right. There is no advantage to buying ahead anymore so just get them at the gate. If you have time you could even go to Downtown Disney the night before when you arrive and purchase your tickets there. I am not sure of the exact hours of the ticket office there but if you are interested in this let me know and I will try to find out how late they are open for you. It is also just a fun place to get some Disney magic and fun with no admission charge!

:grouphug: to your family for all you going through in this difficult time. pixiedust: for a magical day together in the most Magical place.

Thanks so much for the info! We are hoping to go to DTD Monday evening and maybe shop a little and eat some food. It would be great if we could purchase the tickets then, I didn't even think of that! Thanks again!!

p.s. thanks for the group hug, that was so sweet! You can never have too many hugs these days!

It looks like you should be able to buy tickets at the Guest Relations Office in DTD and they are usually open until at least 11pm. Hopefully that will help. There are also Automated Ticket Machines outside the gates of the parks where you can purchase tickets with a credit card that might save you some time waiting in line at the ticket office if it is crowded.

Remember to head to Dumbo first if that is a priority! Best wishes for a safe trip and many happy memories. Take lots of pictures!
