BTW - I must say your title is what brought me in - because of course imho that is the best movie ever. My DH & DS got me the BluRay for Christmas and last weekend my DS and I watched it - well DS made it to the intermission which I though was pretty good for an 8 yo.

Thanks for the well wishes for the babies. They are upstairs, sort of playing the Wii so I think we're on the mend. It's been a rocky weekend.

Ahhh, GWTW--- it's my favorite too. I remember the first time I read the book- all however many gosh awful pages of it-- I was 13 and I couldn't stop reading it one summer.

When I finally got to see the movie- Sunday night movie, of course, on tv... I thought I had died and gone to heaven.

Rhett, the Scallywag- of course I fell deeply in love with him, mainly b/c he was a bad, bad boy... but it didn't hurt at all that he was from my hometown-- Charleston, SC!


Your son lasting until intermission was indeed very good!!! It's a movie that you either love or hate.

My DS has requested we go back to 2 restuarants in MK next trip - one is Tony's and the other is CP for breakfast. It was the only place that he could get grits that were close to mine. He told me I need to show them how to cook grits - I love that boy (BTW I was born in NC and really miss it!)

We all enjoyed Tony's - it was pretty basic Italian food but good and lots of it

Places we've eaten:

Cosmic Ray's - It was insanely busy the day we ate here. I sent DH to order for us and stood around looking for a table with my DD in my arms. A very kind CM came over with a Sully paw on her hand. She let DD touch the fur and kept her calm while we waited for DH to bring our food. I was so hungry by the time I sat down to eat, that I inhaled my hamburger. I don't remember if it was good or not.

Columbia Harbor House - We ate here for a late lunch on our last trip. It was nice and empty! We all enjoyed our food and the atmosphere. It's on our list of places to stop for lunch on our next trip.

Sleepy Hollow We stopped here so that I could get my required funnel cake. I must have one when ever I'm at a theme park. While the rest of my family waited for me to order my funnel cake, they found some tables near by to rest. Another lovely CM came by with crayons, paper, and stickers for DD to use. It's the little things like this that really set DW apart from any other vacation spot for families with young children.

Hey all! I had some technical difficulties over the weekend, but I was successful in opening a Photobucket account and taking all my pics off my camera and uploading them to my laptop. Next steps - upload to Photobucket and post my "Memories" post.

However, I CAN share my dining experiences at MK. There's really only two: Cosmic Ray's and Sleepy Hollow.

Cosmic Ray's - standard cheeseburger and fries meal. Not outstanding, but definitely filled me up. It can get loud inside, so I know I tend to look for seats outside. I've sat at both outside areas. The one across from Tomorrowland Speedway is good for people watching as a lot of people cross over into Tomorrowland from here. If you're looking for a bit of an escape, the tables outside facing the castle are nice. There's only a few though, so they can fill up easily.

Sleepy Hollow - like the PP, I stop here for funnel cake. I usually only get it with strawberries and icing sugar (sorry, confectionary sugar for my US friends), but on hot days it's nice with some vanilla ice cream as well. They're always WAAAY to big for me to finish, but they're great for sharing! I also like that's in a quiet, tucked away place. I happened to be here once when I was there in December (we were staying offsite, I hadn't found the Disboards for that trip, and had no idea when the parades were) and suddenly the Christmas parade went by!! So very Christmassy - me with my red and white funnel cake and hot chocolate watching the parade

I haven't tried any TS places yet. If I get to take my brother, I'm definitely planning on Crystal Palace for a character meal. Since I hope to be going in early October I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Free Dining!!!!

Ahh, well now- that 'splains a whole lot! Being a Southerner yourself, you know there ain't nothin in the whole wide world like your Mama's grits!!!!
Ummm- have you made Shrimp and Grits? We don't live in Charleston anymore but we got twice a year and I have to get me some Shrimp and Grits and She Crab Soup!!

As far as WDW.... I've never been to CP or to Tony's. We had an ADR once for Tony's but cancelled it the same day. No one felt like Italian.I'll have to take another look at their menu.
And as far as CP- many here know it so I'll just go on and lay it out there for all of you who don't know--

I am a certified germaphobe, therefore all buffets everywhere are OUT.

I'm glad you liked CHH as well. It is a nice little spot away from the crowds-- usually!

Sleepy Hollow-- that was so very nice of the CM to give your DD the crayons and such. And you're so right- it's this kind of interaction with the CM's that truly make the trip so unique- and, well...
magical!

Cosmic Rays-- yes, the seating there is strange and is a little bit irritating when you're tired and hungry to have to stand in all of those different lines for different things. I guess that's my only real BIG dislike of the place. The alien I can take or leave, depending on my mood.

The Dole Whip-- ahhh. Have you ever had one??
My favorite is the Pineapple float with the juice. Nothing is more refreshing than that on a hot day in the Magic Kingdom!
But- if you don't want the juice- the plain dole whip is wonderfully refreshing and yummy as well.
A lot of people don't like the floats OR Dole Whips.
Which actually doesn't bother me b/c it's less people I have to stand behind to in order to get my "Fix".

For CS places I loved Casey's Corner, Columbia Harbour House and El Pirata y el Perico. We never really eat sit down at MK - we usually hop on a monorail and go to one of the resorts.

But - El Pirata y el Perico was a really good value! You order whatever you want (I got a taco salad) and they fill up the shell with the beef and then you go to a toppings bar like at Peco's Bills and fill it up with cheese, lettuce, tomato, salsa etc...

I really liked it there! And I know that it was open when we were there in May last year



ETA - I don't know how you feel about 'toppings bars'

I wasn't sure if that fit into your same phobea of buffets. LOL.

Agree about the CR tables--- too loud and crowded for sure. Outside is indeed nice if it's not too hot.

Your Sleepy Hollow experience with your Christmas-y funnel cake and hot chocolate is adorable! How fun that must have been and a nice sprinkling of pixie dust on you. Right place, right time!

Ahh, yes-- the toppings bar does indeed fit into the "No Go for Jo" category.
I won't even use ketchup out of those pump dispensers.

I have only seen Pirata y el Perico open once- and that was in May of um... oh shoot which May was it? IDK, but nevertheless, it was MAY. I would probably eat there if I don't have to do the bar.

Oh you know I love to talk about WDW dining! Or any food!

MK let's see, we've done. . .


Crystal Palace - breakfast twice and dinner once. All great experiences! Food is excellent. It's always very clean, especially for a buffet! And the CM's and characters are always great!

Plaza Restaurant - we had dinner here once. It was very good. Service was kind of slow, but it was a nice experience.

Pecos Bill - we ate lunch here once, about 4 years ago. It was crowded and hot. All the tables were either full or dirty. I just remember standing there with heavy trays and wandering around looking for a seat. Don't even remember how the food was. We should really give it another try. . .

Casey's Corner - ate here several times. The kids love the corn dog nuggets! DH loves the hot dogs & toppings bar. I love the cheese fries!

Cosmic Ray's - are here once, on our most recent trip. We all thought it was just okay.

Aloha Isle - Yummy!! Gotta love the Dole Whip Float.

Main Street Ice Cream Parlor - stopped here for a snack once. The kids and I had some very good ice cream and DH had a root beer float!



I think that's it. Hmm. . . now I'm hungry!

You all know I'm wanting to take my DBro9 in October or November. However, yesterday I got a PIN yesterday for 30%/35%/40% through mid-June.

Soo....I've been working out prices for a week-long trip in May around the May long weekend so DBro is only missing 4 days of school. The travel dates would be May 22-29th. Is this a good week? Bad week? Busy week?
