But Rhett! Where Shall I Go? What Shall I do? Frankly, m'dear... a MAY 2010 PTR

ok - since I'm coming out of lurkdom I have a few I would like to post. At little bit about us as a family, my DH was burned 90% in 2001 while I was pregnant with our DS. When the dr told me he was not going to live I informed the dr my DH was too scared to die because he knew that I would have the dr revive him so I could kill him :rolleyes1 Anyway...he made it, life moves forward and there are many blessings that came from it. So, as I planned our first trip I was very concerned that my DH would be affected by the heat in FL and the walking. So, when after the first day he looks at me and says this is the best time he has ever had in his life well... And needless to say our DS was on :cloud9:. So with that little bit of background here are some pics of our 1st trip to WDW in 2009
This is our DS asleep on our patio at the Poly during Wishes

And DH & DS outside of DHS - they had so much fun together ;)

And finally this is from our resort photoshoot @ the Poly (DH actually asked if we could do it again our next trip :cool1: - go figure -

I get weepy just looking back at our pics because it was such a special trip for us. Thank you for letting me share some of my favorite memories and I enjoy seeing everyone else's :goodvibes
PS sorry the pics are so big I will have to work on re-sizing I was :yay::yay: just to figure out how to post them.

I'll play!

There are so many magical memories to choose from, but if I had to pick one, it would be from our trip in Jan. 2008 when we took our DD to DW for the first time at 17 months old.

I was so nervous about taking her so young, but my parents, who came along on the trip, insisted that everything would work out, as they had taken me to DL for the first time at 15 months old. I was still worried about how she would react to all the sights and sounds.

We went to MK on our first morning and got on the train to Toon Town. We noticed that there was a princess meet and greet near by so jumped in the very short line. A CM notified us that we would be the last family to meet the princesses and after waiting for the two girls in front of us take pictures, it was DD's turn. She walked right up to Princess Aurora's bench and sat so nicely waiting for her picture to be taken and then proceeded to Belle and Cinderella. After meeting all the princesses one on one, all three came over at once to fawn over DD, at which point DD declared she was "happy". I knew in that instant that everything was going to be great for the rest of our trip! I was able to relax and take in the magic!

Awwwwwwwwww-------
She was Happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:cloud9:

Your story is so sweet-- it gave me chills. I love it. You're training her very very well.:goodvibes
It's times like this that can't be planned out that I love- just a moment of magic you can't put a price on.

Maybe she will grow up to be a Princess all her own one day!princess:

Thanks for sharing this- it is so adorable.
:)

Okay so now I'm really crying.

What a truly beautiful family you have and what a precious, precious story you just shared with all of us.
WHen you said your DH was burnt over 90% of his body- I said out loud- "Oh my god- he only had a 10% chance of living"-- and I was so kind of scared to read what you were going to say happened.

To hear that he made it- and you are all together and happy and cherishing life together as a family...
it is just simply amazing to me.

Thanks so much for coming out of lurkdom to share with us this amazing story-

Your pictures are beautiful--- your son is adorable.:cloud9:

So glad you're here!

Jo

Thank you so much for such a warm welcome:flower3:
I look forward to following your pre-trip - good luck not getting in trouble for going w/o the kids :lmao: You also have a beautiful family again thank you and happy planning :dance3:

^^^ You're so welcome!!!!:goodvibes Glad you're here!

Now- since I haven't ever stayed at the Poly before- could you tell me all about it? Your likes/Dislikes?

It's always been one of our dream resorts- I'm just so ready for it to get here.
But yeah- not looking forward to the telling the kids part.

Jo

I am crying like a baby at all these touching stories.

What a great idea JO! :goodvibes I may have to steal it for my next PTR! ;)

We loved the Poly - so much so that when we talked about going back this year and I made my spreadsheet (yes a spreadsheet ) with resort choices for everyone to pick from the Poly was the only choice. I even had pros/cons for each resort ;).
What we loved - wow that is a long list - I will try to be brief
*We stayed club level 1st floor with a lagoon view and were lucky enough to have a straight view of the Castle. My DH loved watching Wishes from bed :upsidedow and DS and I could go right to the beach :lovestruc
We also watched Wishes from the pool one night - very cool!
This pic was right outside of our room
Image853.jpg

*The grounds and decor made us feel we were on a tropical island resort in addition to being at WDW
*Tonga Toast :thumbsup2
*The staff was very friendly

OK really the only thing that bugged us were the uninivited pool hoppers :headache: because the Poly has a pretty cool pool.

I thought about doing a TR but we were there for 2 weeks and it just felt overwhelming

Wow! What wonderful stories and beautiful family moments that you are sharing!!!
This was a great idea! I always knew the DIS was a special place full of special people.
Now I'm all mushy-feeling. LOL!

GO VIKINGS!!!!

There, that made me feel tough!

GO VIKINGS!!!!

There, that made me feel tough!

Mushy- gushy! It has been a good day on here- very fun and touching.

Okay- now, Ms Sheree- here's my secret---------- we sort of kinda have a love fest going on in this house for the Offensive Rookie of the Year--- Percy Harvin!:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes Go Vikings!!!!!:lovestruc
It's a long story- but Drew's met him a couple of times and he is his absolute favorite player ever. Did you see him in that pic at MNSSHP? That was Percy's jersey. Percy was a Gator, and well.... we love him to pieces. I've searched the world over for a Vikings #12 jersey with Harvin on the back in a kids size, but they aren't making them.

so sad.

:headache:

So there ya go.

OH JO!! That makes my day - we're a bit concerned today, because Percy has been out of practice with his migraines for a couple days. Hopefully they will be better by Sunday! I'm going to keep an eye out for you - what size jersey would you need? Did I mention my DH works at Vikings games?? He sells merchandise - jerseys, t -shirts, etc. Of course there are no more home games for us, but there is a lot of Vikes stuff around town. I didn't know where Percy came from (I don't really follow football that much) but I know we love him!!! :woohoo:

My DH just said they've been getting lots of Harvin stuff b/c he's a rookie of the year of something!

Buzz - buzz - buzz -

Hey Jo - your thread is making Blackberry fall of the desk again!

:rotfl2:
Sea

sea- here is one for you.. maybe it will fall now... LOL

OK OK i'll also play....

Well one of my favorite memories of Dis would be from our very first trip ever back in the 80's when my dad was still around..... i remember getting to MK getting off the monorail and seeing the castle for the very first time... my father alway wanted to take us... and he finally did and it's crazy cause i have a pic of him in front of the castle with his arms stretched out with the whole "Rocky" triumph pose.... LOVE it....

Ok my other memory is recent from our May 07 trip i am a Huge Dis fan and in turn i converted my daughter into a fan so i remember getting off the bus going through the little path hand in hand with my DD and then seeing the castle... i felt my DD pull away and just started jumping up and down at the sight of the castle screaming.... it made me tear up that she was so excited about being there... then I looked at my DH and DD and we were all in awe DD still jumping up and down..... it was both my Dh and DD first time there. She asks to go to WDW all the time now.... she loves it....

oh now i'm all teary reading everybodies stories and thinking of my own trips.... sniff sniff .....

Offensive Rookie of the Year!! :banana:We're so proud of him! I'm trying to find the pic of Drew and Percy together so I can show you.

Drew would need a size 12 - 14 so that he could grow into it. If you could find one-- i would be ever so indebted to you. (He's got a bday in May!:goodvibes) I've scoured the internet but can't find anything for him.

Percy has had migraines for a long time. They are really bad ones- usually keep down for almost a week. My little man will be crushed if Percy doesn't play.

Thanks for looking for me.

Awww. Mari--- those are both such wonderful memories. I loved them both. It's such a neat thing- that WDW means something different to everyone- but each of us have memories of it that we treasure, and each one is unique.

Thanks for sharing with us.
