Day 4 – Part 1
I woke up feeling a tiny bit disappointed on this day because I realized we were half way through our vacation.

I’ve never had that feeling on previous trips, but then again, we had never been to the World together. Usually, I tend to get homesick (ya…me…an adult) and miss my animals, my bed and the comforts of home but not this time. This trip was very different in so many ways. There was so much to see and do and just not enough time to do it all. I knew then that we would
HAVE to come back. Many people had told me we would never see it all in seven days and I tried my best to cram in as much as I could, and they were right. We missed several attractions at MGM the previous day and even more at Magic Kingdom. That helped to make our decision of what we would do for the evening. After dinner at Chef Mickey’s, we’d spend the rest of the night in MK.
Prince Grumpy made his usual trip to the food court for coffee, tea and juice. He came back with Danishes for us all and we sat and ate our breakfast while watching the Disney Channel. That seemed to be the only channel that the girls could agree on most of the time. I showered first because I had a job to do that morning.
If you recall, our dinner receipt from Hollywood & Vine showed that 8 TS credits were missing from our dining plan so I went to the front desk to clear that up. Unfortunately the line up was much longer than I had anticipated and I ended up waiting for over 20 minutes to finally speak to a CM. While waiting, I met a nice man from NJ who realized while chatting with me that he missed out on the free dining plan. Another woman, who overheard us talking, proceeded to ask one of the CM’s if she could register for the free dining. I was curious to hear what they would tell her, and of course they gave her the big spiel about the time frame, blah blah blah. Then it was my turn. My stomach started flip-flopping because I hate confronting people about stuff and I wondered why I hadn’t sent Prince Grumpy to do this. I showed the CM my receipt and told him it was missing 8 TS credits. He was so polite and understanding, which calmed my nerves. The CM checked the computer and told me that because I had picked up my confirmation/reservation for Hoop-Dee-Doo, the credits were already taken off for that even though we hadn’t been yet. Whew! That was a relief, however, I’m sure I turned 3 shades of red from embarrassment for being so uninformed.
By this time it was close to 10:00 a.m. and I was rushing everyone to get moving. We made our way to the bus stop, chatting excitedly about the heat and what a great day it was for a water park.

Seriously, everyday would have been a great day for a water park. It was always hot and sunny. When we arrived at Typhoon Lagoon, Prince Grumpy got his camera out to take some pictures near the entrance to the park, which was when he noticed in our haste to leave, he had forgotten the battery for his camera in the charger. There was a short, angry conversation then and it went something like this:
DH: See what happens when you rush us!
Me: What? You can’t seriously be mad at me because you forgot the battery.
DH: Well, you were telling us to hurry up.
Me: It’s okay, I brought my camera, and we can use mine.
(At this point, I pulled mine out of my fanny pack, turned it on, and realized I only had enough space left for 8 pictures.
OH NO – I forgot to download the mini movies from Fantasmic! There was no way that I was going to erase them.)
Me: Ummmm…I forgot to download my pics last night.
DH: GRRRRRRR
Me: JoJo – what about your camera?
JoJo: I didn’t bring mine because I didn’t want to have to worry about it with the water.
Me: Ugh.
DH: Do you want me to go back and get the battery?
Goofy: NO…we don’t need pictures. Let’s just go!
Me: (Thinking – don’t need pictures???? Where does this child come from???)
Me: No, forget it. Maybe we can buy a throwaway in the park.
DH: Yah – it’ll probably cost a fortune (the big spender)
I took a few pictures and we headed into the park. We rented a locker, some towels and went to a store and bought ourselves an underwater throwaway camera. It was one that you could strap on your wrist and DH seemed fine with his purchase. It only cost $16.00 and he wasn’t too upset. We only took about 6 pictures with this camera and still haven’t brought it in to be developed. All the fuss was for nothing.
The girls really wanted to start out in the lazy river so we each grabbed a tube and sailed around the park, enjoying the sights. We got off at a spot that seemed to satisfy us all, dropped our gear and headed for our first ride. I don’t remember what the ride was called but the line-up was long and moved slowly. All we knew was that it was a family ride and thought it would be fun. Whelp, it took over 30 minutes before we got to the top of the hill and about 1 minute to go down. That was enough for DH. He said he wasn’t doing that again and wanted to go in the wave pool. The wave pool was so much fun, we all loved it except poor little Goofy. She was afraid of being sucked under because of a bad experience she had in the ocean when we were in P.E.I. This surprised me because of the four of us; she is the fish in the family, the one who lives in the river and pool back home. Waves were just not her thing. She mostly stayed in the shallow part, which as you all know isn’t nearly as much fun. I could tell she wasn’t having a good time and I didn’t want to spoil JoJo and DH’s fun, so I asked her if she wanted to go try out another slide.
Goofy and I wandered through the trails and came upon the shark reef. This was definitely discussed before the trip; it was something her and I wanted to try. The line for this was long too and I told her we should wait for DH and JoJo because they’d want to see us. Prince Grumpy and JoJo are terrified of sharks and told us they would not be joining us but would watch.
I have the funniest pic of Prince Grumpy in PEI, wading near the shore in the ocean, lifting his leg up, afraid to step in the water. I even researched shark attacks in Canada and there have been none reported. They are there, but no attacks. Didn’t matter, he wouldn’t go in and said we were crazy. JoJo finally ventured in on the second last day and was sorry she didn’t go sooner. I tried to explain to them that the sharks at WDW were small and it couldn’t possibly be dangerous or they wouldn’t let people swim with them. No convincing them.
We found a slide with no wait went down three times. Goofy would have liked to stay there longer but I was exhausted climbing back each time. I’ll have to get in better shape for the next trip.
The two of us went back to find DH and JoJo so we could all go for lunch. I was famished. We ordered our meal and received tokens for an ice cream bar. The CM explained that we could come back later to get our dessert. As we chose a table, and looked around, I noticed a sign that said, “Don’t feed the birds”. Well, from what you’ve read about my family, you know that a little sign wouldn’t deter them. The girls kept throwing fries to the birds and I kept telling them to stop it. My fries were good but I noticed a few of them were burnt or had some kind of black oil on them. I ate around those ones and heartily finished the rest. As we were leaving, a bird pooped on my shoulder.

EWWWWWWW. It was nasty. While the three of them laughed at me, I grabbed a soiled napkin and wiped the crap off only to realize then that my fries were not burnt, it wasn’t black oil on them, it was birdie doo-doo on my fries. I have such a weak stomach and started gagging immediately, which only made the girls and Prince Grumpy laugh even harder.

I needed to find a washroom quickly before I tossed my lunch. I went in to the cubicle, wretching but nothing came up. Bleh. After washing my shoulder and hands with soap and water we headed back to the wave pool.
The girls wanted to spend more time in the lazy river and DH and I wanted to play in the wave pool so we told them to go have fun and meet us in hour. They came back sooner because Goofy had cut her knee and wanted me to get her a band-aid. This was another one of those times when I hadn’t come prepared and didn’t pack one in my pouch. I went into the store asking for a band-aid but they told us to go to first aid. After having her knee mended, we headed back to the food court to cash in our tokens for an ice cream bar except JoJo, who wanted to keep her token for a souvenir. We decided to call it a day after that because we still had to go and purchase pictures. We chose a 5 x 7 from the family ride but since it hasn’t been scanned, I won’t be sharing it.
As we were leaving, we made a group decision to spend our free day (which was the next day) at the water park. Goofy and I forgot about the shark reef and wanted to try some other slides. There was no one else waiting at the bus stop and when the All Stars bus finally showed up, the driver told us it wasn’t the one going to ASMo. We must have been a sorry looking bunch because she opened the door again and told us she would drop us off! WooHoo! What a nice driver.
