Hi! I just found your trip report and waiting anxiously to find out if the 15 year old LOVES Walt Disney World or HATES it!

Waiting for more!

I will post the next installment tomorrow - Today I was too busy reading all the other great tr's out there :)

Great TR! We live in Toronto and will be visiting WDW in January for the first time. Can't wait! Just out of curiosity, where did you fly out from and with which airline? I am looking at Sunwing or Westjet or possibly both (Sunwing to MCO and Westjet back).

And I can't wait to read more of your TR. :thumbsup2

Day 1 - Part 3

GeorgiaAristocat - Heh Heh - How can anyone not like Disneyworld??? Thanks for taking an interest in my tr! I can't wait to read the rest of yours when you get back.

bbangel & starseed - thank you so much also

Before I begin today, I’d like to tell a quick story about the purchasing of our Fanny Packs. I read on the boards somewhere that Fanny Packs are a MUST have. So I decided that I too MUST have them. I didn’t get mine at Walmart, I bought them from our local pharmacy store around Canada Day so ours have the maple leaf displayed on the front. Nothing like advertising where you are from eh? Anyhow, I bought 3 different colours because if any of you know what kids are like – they always want something different than their siblings. No I didn’t buy one for DH – didn’t even consider it. I knew he’d never wear something like that but I did buy him a shoulder type bag (displaying the maple leaf also) to carry his camera and lens’ around.

DH wasn’t all that impressed with his new bag and the girls laughed and teased him a few times and said he was carrying a purse. :rolleyes1 He ended up using a small sized Mary Kate & Ashley knapsack about 2 days into the trip because he said that the other one was too heavy on his shoulder and was digging in. He looked so cute with his purple bag. *smiling at the memory*

JoJo and Goofy fought over their new fanny packs. They both wanted the same colour. Go figure. I think it was Goofy who got what she wanted in the end, I don’t really recall. I did offer to go back and exchange the other one for the same colour to end the absurd bickering. Then JoJo informed me that she was not using hers anyway because it was nerdy looking. I told her “Who’s going to see you? We won’t know anyone there.” “Mom, I’m NOT wearing THAT in Disney World”. Okay, okay. I didn’t push it because I was a teenager once too and I remember what it’s like – having to look cool and all that. :cool1: I don’t think she even brought it on the trip but she didn’t offer to give it back to go get a refund either. It’s disappeared somewhere in that museum of hers that she calls her bedroom. :rotfl2:

Onwards….

My original plan was to start our magical adventure in Downtown Disney at Disney Quest but once we arrived I had my heart set on going straight to the Magic Kingdom. I didn’t want to wait another day. Welp, my Prince and DDs were having no part of changing our itinerary. Since I was outnumbered we hopped on a bus and headed out for our first evening of discovery. :wizard:

For those of you who are still following my tr, I'm sorry to say that I will not be able to continue for at least a week. My laptop has a serious problem and I must bring it in to be fixed. Hopefully it won't be longer than 10 days. Ackkkk...what will I do without my daily disboard reading.

See you all soon...I hope :(

Did you just say I'll have to wait a WEEK to hear more? Glad there's a trip that has kids my age and older in it. JoJo sounds a lot like my future self.I have that "Look cool" problem as well as being a Disney Freak. I guess I'm like both of them together! You're doing great, keep up the awesome work!

Nice.
mine is coming! holy heck alot of work... : [

Day 1 -Part 4

Tinkerbell Teen: Thanks! You must be awfully excited about your upcoming trip - I'm jealous :thumbsup2 . Hope you're going to write your own TR when you get back.

JoJo: I'm so pleased you decided to write you own TR. I can't wait to read more and add it to our scrapbook when you're finished. Love ya lots sweety. :love2:

To all my other followers: I'm back ... laptop is working great - it was my hard drive - luckily I was able to make copies of all my documents and WDW pics before the drive finally died. :badpc: :badpc: :badpc:

On with the trip...

***************************************************

Goofy had $220.00 worth of spending money for the trip and JoJo had $155.00. Of that we had given them each $100.00 and they both received $25.00 from their grandparents. (Grandparents also gave DH and myself an extra $25.00 to spend - very sweet) :thanks: The girls also had their earned Disney dollars and the remaining was from their own savings (of which JoJo had none – she’s not the saving type). DDs had also been given a bucket of pennies from their grandparents and one from us. JoJo had no interest in rolling the coins and gave her share to Goofy who happily rolled $50.00 worth. On the day of our departure when they counted out what they each had, Goofy felt sorry for her sister and ended up giving her $20.00 of her own money. I thought that was so sweet of her. They had more than enough cash but if you were to ask them they’d disagree! pixiedust:

Our first stop in Downtown Disney was the Planet Hollywood store. The girls browsed through the clothing, calling me over to look at every item that caught their interest. At first it was exciting to see the merchandise they liked but as the trip progressed along…this became somewhat annoying. I can recall many times shopping in the same stores – maybe 3 feet away from them and my radio would go off “Mom, Mom, come and see this….MOM…. :furious: MOM…where are you?”

Both DDs decided they wouldn’t buy anything from the first store they shopped in – they wanted to look around for a bit but definitely would come back to PH. Myself, I handed in my voucher for our “free” merchandise. It was a PH keychain – and as you can guess the fighting began…who would get it. I put it in my fanny pack and told them we would decide later. I heard some rumbling…what’s that? Prince Grumpy said “it’s my belly – I’m starving!” so we headed over to Disney Quest for our first FREE CS meal.

Planet Hollywood Restaurant

Disney Quest is like a maze…with – I think – 4 or 5 floors. It seemed like we were going in circles. Anyway…we decided on eating at the Cheesecake Factory Express. DH, JoJo and I ordered the pasta meal and Goofy wanted the grilled chicken panini. We were astonished at the size of the platters. I wish I had taken pictures to show everyone. The meal was delicious and so filling. We shared two of the chocolate cupcake desserts and gave the other two away to two young girls at the table beside us. They happily accepted after their mother said it was okay. We could have brought them back to our hotel for late night snack since they were packaged but it was a lot more fun spreading some pixie dust! pixiedust: This meal would have cost us $56.00 if we weren’t on the free dining plan. What a savings. We couldn’t believe Disney provided this deal – oh the magic and it was just beginning! :yay:

After our bellies were full we tried a few of the rides in DQ. The first one was the Magic Carpets of Aladdin. It was neat – a 3D game where the user is riding the carpet collecting jewels and such. Funny thing though, the helmet didn’t fit my head and the CM quickly noticed and gave me a smaller one but it still kept falling down and crushing the bridge of my nose. JoJo had no interest in participating in any of the rides in DQ. We talked her into the rafting ride – where each us had to paddle through some rapids but Goofy kept yelling at her to paddle and that just made things worse. Since JoJo wasn’t too enthusiastic about this place we left. Goofy was disappointed but went along with our decision. I don’t think we’d go back to Disney Quest next time.

We walked along the streets, in and out of some of the stores. I remember one of them, I think it was called Starabilias which had autographed pictures of singers and other memorabilia. There was a sign posted stating “no picture taking” – hmm…what did I see…Prince Grumpy snapping away. I messaged him on the radio and said “hey…you’re not supposed to be doing that”. Did he listen? Noooooooooooooo. :sad2:

One of JoJo's pics...not sure what it is

Goofy bought a balloon from one of those vendors who shape the balloons into things. She chose a monkey. She has this thing for monkeys. It goes back to her childhood. :offtopic: Her favourite stuffed animal was a small monkey she named Chatter. Chatter had to go everywhere with her. It got her through many days, like her first day at daycare, school and sleepovers. Although she doesn’t need Chatter anymore…he still sits upon her shelf in her room.

We finished up our evening in Downtown Disney back at the PH store. Goofy bought a ball cap and a pretty t-shirt and JoJo bought a PH sweatshirt. They both received a free keychain with their purchase so the one safely tucked away in my fanny pack became mine. We went back to our resort and guess what was in our room waiting for us????? Our luggage!! Woohoo!!! :Pinkbounc DH seemed quite relieved. We all unpacked except JoJo – she lived out of her suitcase the entire trip – hmm… made me wonder what she had in her suitcase…heh. Afterwards we bought 4 refillable mugs, got some drinks and sat by the pool for an hour, watching Goofy swim before heading off to bed. The mugs cost us $52.37, which may seem like a lot of money but they were well worth it plus we each have a souvenir.

Time for relaxing

Coming Up...Day 2 - Magic Kingdom - Lunch at Cinderella's Royal Table!

Day 2 - Part 1

I was the first one up on day 2 – actually I think I was always the first one up during the entire vacation. At home, I’m usually the last one to awake, but not here, not in Disney World! With so little time, nothing could be wasted. Besides, it takes me almost an hour to become mobile in the mornings – I need my cup of tea or two and some quiet time. I’m not a talker in the mornings at all. Prince Grumpy and the girls know this and pretty much ignore me until I start up a conversation. JoJo and DH on the other hand are the kind of people who wake up smiling and get into those long-winded conversations and I’m like looking at them wondering where they get the energy. Goofy is another story…if she wakes up before she’s ready to start her day…look out…she needs to be treated with kid gloves. She has red hair and the temper to go with it!

Since I wanted to enjoy my wake up time peacefully, I quietly slipped out of the room and stood on the balcony for about ten minutes, feeling the sun on my face and watching people hurrying towards the main building, either for breakfast or to catch the next bus. In the mornings at WDW, everyone was always smiling, always happy and it wasn’t until later in the day when you’d begin seeing the scowling faces, the whining of young children and tired parents. Yes, I liked my mornings in the World.

DH has this sort of sixth sense when I’m not in bed with him and wakes up. He came out to join me for a few minutes before heading to the food court to fill our mugs with tea and coffee. He did that each morning on our trip and I love him for it. I just couldn’t imagine getting dressed so quickly and walking there or anywhere for that matter with my stiff joints. When he returned, he brought out the chairs from our room and we sat outside until we finished our much-needed caffeine.

Then it started…quiet time was over…we heard JoJo and Goofy inside yelling at each other. Oh oh, time to go in and settle things down. Apparently Goofy was lying to close to her bigger sister and was taking up too much room on the bed. JoJo asked if we could get her a cot for the remainder of the trip – she didn’t want to share a bed with Goofy.

What happened to my little babies who loved sharing a bed, talking and giggling in the wee hours of the night?

A cot was a no go on our part…the rooms are much too small. We suggested she lie in our bed until it was time to get ready. I think for the next trip, a room with bunk beds might be a priority.

Just an off topic question here - anyone in Canada notice all the lady bugs lately? It feels like a lady bug invasion at our place - they are everywhere! Creepy. Very creepy.

Thanks for your comment on the trip, but, yeah, um, we can't go in November. I really really should update that.

I DO HAVE A TRIPPIE! It's called 'The Tink Travellers attempt and succeed to go to Disney. It's okay, I guess, but I thinks yours is gooder.

I have already read your tr and I thought it was great so far. You're doing a wonderful job - well written for a 12 year old! I'm looking forward to more. Mine is definately not as good as many others out there - like ZZUB, MEL, and Montana's (and many more) but I'm okay with that as you should be also. It's for my family, my daughters, friends, lurkers and to create memories for our scrapbook.

I came over here after you said hi on my trip report. I have to say I went to PEI after my senior year of high school and loved it. My mom's friend took me and I loved everything about it.

I was laughing at you talking about the bags you got your girls. I toured WDW with a Canada Roots shoulder bag I got on my trip to Toronto a few years back and I'm from Boston!!

I think your girls might come out of the not being able to share a bed stage. I'm 24, my brother is 22 and my sister is 19. My sister and I had a period when I was just in high school where we were constantly trying to kill eachother. We went on a family trip to WDW in December and she I shared a bed with no fighting and plenty of whispering. Aside from the fact she hogs the covers it was great!

My 4 year old has a stuffed puppy that we caught at a Mardi Gras parade almost 3 years ago. Pup Pup, what she calls him, goes EVERYWHERE with us! I just pray that she never loses him :(

I am loving your report and can't wait to hear about CRT :cheer2:

Minniespal:

Thank you for reading!

Poppinspal:
PEI is a beautiful place but we found it a little too cold.

I do hope my girls are just going through a phase - this constant fighting and bickering stage upsets me. Glad you and your sis are getting along now!

NewOrleansLady:

Thank you also for posting. I appreciate the interest people are taking in my trip report.

I'll be adding all about CRT soon - I think that was the point where JoJo finally admitted to loving everything about Disney World and I haven't heard another word about PEI. :woohoo:

Hope your daughter doesn't lose her Pup Pup either (sweet)

I THOUGHT I recognized YOU.

Heh heh.

I'm just startin'.

This trippie.

But... I'm excited. I'm IN.

I'm gonna be needing MORE hours in my day.

With all these trippies. Happening. Now.

Cheers, Melly.

You know as I thought about it I did wear sweatshirts a couple of times on my summer vacation there. But I suppose it makes sense where it's located. But there are so me beautiful sights and the people I met were so nice!

Hopefully they are. I know we were really ugly to eachother at that stage and I know it killed my mom. But part of it was me thinking I knew it all now that I was in hs and my sister was just a kid still in my mind. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!
