We have reservations for Nov. 6-13 at POR (we are a group of 5). I called today to try to change to either a water view room, or even to upgrade to one of the deluxe hotels that sleep 5. I was told that NOTHING was available. How busy is it going to be????

My DH thinks that it might be busy, since many people postponed their trips due to the various hurricanes and it's the last weekend of the Food & Wine festivel. Also, it's Veterans Day that week and Super Soap the following weekend!!!

Time to use early entry, afternoon back at the hotel for a swim, then back to the parks in the early evening.

I was wondering the same thing... I'm going to be there from 11/6-11/13 too (at CR). While I really had no intention of changing my reservation & went online the other day to check the prices with one of the newer codes to compare costs & found NO availability at ANY of the Deluxe resorts... I even went as far as putting in for ANY hotel & only ASMo came back!! I'm really concerned that the potential crowds will put a damper on our long awaited trip!

In 2005, November will be Regular season instead of Value, so I believe that crowds are picking up in November... this is probably due to a few things:

- Epcot Food and Wine Festival, which runs thru November 14.
- Super Soap Weekend is November 13-14
- Festival of the Masters is November 12-14
- 'Jersey week' - New Jersey teachers convention is November 4-5, but many families take advantage of school being out on Election day and Veterans day.
- many people took advantage of the 5 plus 2 deal, and the Fall and Holiday codes
- and of course, the people who needed to reschedule due to the hurricanes.

I have been to WDW 3 times during the first week of November, and the crowds are managable, much more so than the summer crowds.

I'm staying at POR Nov. 6-13 also. This is our first trip. Everyone told me this time of year is not busy, that's why we chose to take the kids out of school. I was hoping it wouldn't be too crowded, especially since the parks close earlier.

We're going Nov. 20-25th. The crowds should be manageable until Thanksgiving weekend. I expect the period between the food and wine festival and Thanksgiving to be pretty light.

Christine - I called to add the night of the 24th and was told the only rooms available were suites or Wilderness Lodge at rack rate. The CRO CM said to try again because things change daily. I called the next day and got exactly what I wanted.

I'm also going during that same time in Nov., mostly because it used to be so uncrowded. I would also take it as a sign that next year Nov. will no longer be Value season!

I may be completely off-base, but I would bet "more crowded than expected" for Nov. is still a lot less crowded than the parks are during the summer. Can someone who went in Nov. last year confirm that?

BTW, I checked earlier this morning to get a sense of how crowded it might be. At the WDW web site, there were rooms available for Nov. 12-19 at all resort types, even some of the harder to book resorts like POR. These were rack-rate rooms, not under the specials. It could be all the specials are booked, and not all the rooms. :D

just to let all of you know who are going to be in disney the weekend of nov 13, and 14. that is super soap weekend in mgm. it is crazy then. mgm is usually packed with all of the crazed soap fans - like myself. :hyper: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

i usually go there with my mother in law. while we are checking out the soap events and drooling over the guys there, dh and his father go on the rides there. some of the attractions are closed down because the soap events are taking them over, but the others - like tower of terror, and the rocknroller coaster were pretty free. they said that they were on the rides in less than 5 min. because most of the people that are in mgm during that time are at the other attractions.

i would assume that some guests may decide to avoid mgm's crowds those days and be at the other parks, so those may be more crowded.

but that is why the resorts are so full for that weekend. plus a lot of people decide to make a week out of it while they are there, and to stay to go to the other parks on the other days.

good luck

Karenfm, I know the night of the 6th is booked solid almost everywhere. But you might try keeping your current room for the 6th and trying to get the 7th-13th elsewhere.

Get your new ressie for the 7th-13th and after that's secured, then have your first ressie shortened.

Good luck. I just did some changing around on my own trip and the 6th is packed everywhere. I had to keep that night at the poly and then made new ressies for AKL so will move over there on the 7th.

Most projections seem to base this November's crowd level on prior year's attendance. However, has anyone considered the impact on November crowds from the thousands of travelers who unwillingly rescheduled their original September vacation plans due to hurricanes Frances, Ivan and Jeanne, or the thousands of displaced Floridians still staying at WDW and Orlando area resorts because their homes were damaged?

November theme park visitors can certainly expect an increase in crowds due to the International Food and Wine Festival, Eat to the Beat Concert Series, Jersey Week, Election Day, Veterans Day, and Super Soap Weekend. But is anyone also aware that November is traditionally one of Orlando’s busiest convention months.

The Orange County Convention Center attracts major events such as the National Association of Realtors Conference, International Association of Amusement Parks & Attractions, Central Florida International Auto Show and Powergen. The combined estimated attendance just from these four November conventions is 105,000.

Of course not all of these individuals will have the opportunity to visit WDW. But given the conservative probability that at least half of the 105,000 conventioneers will want to see Mickey, November attendance would still increase by nearly 53,000 visitors. You won’t find that statistic in any WDW guidebook

Don't forget that the WDW website lists only one block of available rooms. These are not the same rooms that CRO has available. It's quite common for one to be booked up when the other shows availability. On a few vacations we've had to book part on-line and part through CRO.
