If I were younger, I'd be starting a business in Orlando.

Many, many people here have white vinyl fencing. The fencing is great, but it tends to get a slimy, green buildup which needs to be cleaned off about every four to five months depending on the weather. The green slime can be washed off, but requires some scrubbing or a good power washing.

Worse than the slime are the rust spots. Most people in the area have in-ground irrigation systems which we use twice a week. My area uses reclaimed water. This means there are more minerals (and other stuff) in the water than the water we use in the house. Pretty soon, the bottom of the fence develops rust spots which just keep building.

There is a product that will take the rust spots off. You can't just wash them off. Reguar vinyl cleaners won't take them off. The product that will remove them must be put on and allowed to stand for 30 minutes before washing off. This is a lot of work.

I've called all over the Orlando area to people who do fencing, lawn maintenance, vinyl siding repair, etc. No one cleans vinyl fencing. Gosh. I'd pay someone to do this. At the moment, I am not physically able to do it. I'm dreading the day I am given the okay by my doctor. I'll have to clean the fence. I think a person could make a lot of money with this type of business. I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't want to do it!

In the meantime, please excuse the condition of my fence. :)

Our vinyl siding gets that way as well... DH invested in a powerwasher and does it about twice a year. It's a pain :sad2:

Have you seen companies that clean fences in your area? I'm really surprised somebody hasn't jumped on this.

I haven't taken notice but I wasn't really looking... DH is cheap labor :rotfl2:

We also powerwash our vinyl siding and it works well, much better than me gettign out there and doing it myself by hand.
There must be a powerwashing company in your area.

Unfortunately, the powerwashing doesn't remove the rust stains. It does a good job on the slime. The only thing I've found, after talking to several fence companies, is a product sold at Ace Hardware called Snowcap.

I have well water where i live and get rust spots in my vinyl bathtub/shower. It is a pain to clean it. The chemicals I use are really strong and I have to put alot of elbow grease into it. Hopefully you will be better soon, even if it's not to do the cleaning.

Maybe you could just find a company to sell green slime colored fences and then you won't notice the slime??? :lmao: .

I hate those white fences. We don't get slime here but our neighbors have one and if the sun is shining on it it is BLINDING!

Maybe! The slime cuts down on the glare!
