Hi all. My company is attending a conference in Orlando in Sept and we always have a client dinner for about 20 people. Anyone know of restaurants in the Universal areans that have private seating? Our hotel is over by Universal but we've traveled 20-30 minutes for dinners before. I will also post this on the Disney boards. Thanks for any and all help.
(I suggested the Hoop-de-do, but the stick in the muds didn't like my idea!)

If you're willing to travel all the way over to the Boardwalk, Flying Fish might fit the bill. They have a nice room in the restaurant which you can take over with a group that size. My husband held a dinner there last year and it worked out really well. It's our favorite restaurant in Orlando. (Actually we'll be eating there next Wednesday!)

I would go with The Palm restaurant at Hard Rock Hotel. I guarantee your group will not be dissapointed!!!

If you want something more casual, go with Hard Rock Cafe or Margaritaville at City Walk.

Just call any of them to see what they can do for your group!

At Citywalk: NBA City, Hard Rock, Emeril's, and Pastamore all have private dining rooms that can be reserved in advance for functions such as yours.

Of course, both hotels can make arrangements for you as well.

However, I would agree that The Palms might be your best bet for this engagement.

Why not go for it and try out the private dining room at "Jiko's" at the new Disney Animal Kingdom Lodge. I hear the food is fabulouse! Get to see the resort and animals while your there as well.

There are several nice restaurants near Universal that offers private seating areas for groups of your sizes. Some are actually in the tourist areas, but others are more of upscale local joints:

Timpano's: This is a new restaurant located on Sand Lake Road, just a few miles from Universal. They offer an Italian chop house type theme and is very popular - always busy, and has had rave reviews. They typical cost is about $35 per head and they have private seating area for meetings.

Morton's of Chicago: This is a classic steak house with some of the best meats in town. This is where the local business men go to close deals over a nice peace of meat, glass of scotch on fine cigar. Typical cost is about $50 per head and they too also can arrange private seating areas. This restaurant is also located on Sand Lake Road.

Ming Court: Located on International Drive, adjacent to the Convention Center, they call it "Innovative Oriental Cuisine". They have a beautiful restaurant, with faux painting throughout. They have a dramatic banquet room that can accommodate your group and they cost will be about $30 per head.

Sam Snead Tavern: Is located in MetroWest and is a golf theme restaurant located with a private dining area. The food is good and ambiance is great. They have a lively bar where you will find a fun local crowd. Typical cost will be about $25-35 per head.

There are a few other restaurants that should be considered: Roy's which is unique seafood themed restaurant on Sand lake Road, Ranjetsu which is a Japaneese restaurant on International Drive and Christinis, an award winning Italian restaurant on Sand lake road.

You might also want to contact Park and Event Sales at Universal-they might be able to set up something nice for your group, no matter the size.

You can find them through the main automated number -

407-363-8000

good luck

I would try Jiko's at the new Animal Kingdom Lodge as well. The private dining room (the wine room) is beautiful, and menu is wonderful...check it out at www.wdwig.com and they have an extensive wine list. Can't wait to try it.
If you don't mind a place with some activity, the food/service at the Latin Quarter (City Walk) are outstanding and the singing/dancing mini shows that go on during dinner are a great perk. Either would be a great place for client dinners. ;)
